Looks like myself and a co-worker will be attending a 50th anniversary party for a certain brand that starts with P and ends with eavey at the NAMM show this year.
I think I may have to learn how to make scripts in python if I want to get more into GIS Analyst work.
"Right to work" cracks me up. As an employee you're expected to give at least two weeks notice or else people think you're a poopie bag, but if you give your employer your two weeks notice they can fire you on the spot. How the shag does that work?
More to the point, you can spend enough time to accrue PTO with an employer. Then when you ask to use it, you can (or it will be inferred that you will) be let go.
its not the unions you need to understand, its the union-busters.
Used to be, you would pay dues to belong to the union, and you pretty much had to be in the union to work in your respected field. The union used the money to pay people to support and fight for your rights/benefits. If one company sh!t on one worker, the union would walk across the board.
Now the unions are not allowed to require dues to belong. So the dues they collect are really more of donations. There are plenty of people who would rather keep their money, and let others fund the union. Not realizing that it weakens the collective bargaining power that supports their rights and safety.
Good explanation. My dad travels to Detroit often to run logistics support for a car company and it's union based warehouse employees are notorious for sleeping in the boxes in the factory.
I'll be the first to admit that Unions got greedy, but they need internal reform. Not external legislation removing them.

Just ordered an olympic white bass VI. Should be here in 2 weeks. Skipped on the mini moog delay, the expersion pedal part was cool but id rather pick up one of those Fuzzrocious Afterlife or a Mr Black Supermoon.
Eff that! We made a guy that had his hand slip working on high voltage lines... He literally cooked both his arms to the elbow and blew out his hands. Plus it put him into SVT. We had to shock him to slow his heart down and give him ALL the pain meds. I've got a pretty good constitution but that was gnarly to see. And as a musician and lover of my hands and fingers, terrifying.Low voltage infrastructure is a good route to take. I'm not saying line man, but that can have it's perks if you like messing with heavy equipment too.
I got canned from my last job immediately after putting in my 2 week notice. I'd seen the manager do it to other employees before me. I let the boss at the new job know that it was quite possible that it would happen so when it did they started me immediately.

I was in a bar back home with my cousin(a county prison guard). I saw a guy at the bar and noticed he had no arms from like the elbows down. I said eff that must be horrible, he said don't waste your words, the scumbag was stealing wiring to sell the copper and put his hands were they didn't belong, he lost his arms then went to jail for why he lost his arms.
