I don't know about you guys, but Snakes for the Divine may be the perfect song for my musical taste. Maybe not perfect but close. I can't help but bang my head the whole song. Now if only I could get my fingers humming that fast for that long.
This is one of the more polished records they have in the catalog. Des is a beast on the kit. Jeff is no slouch. He uses a pick why can't you? FROST HAMMER!
Got into my friends show for free last night and she got me the manager price on drinks. I worked their merch booth and sold a cd for them, so I am officially the top earner for them.

I am worthless with a pick for anything fast and my endurance is weak sauce. I couldn't play guitar to save my life either. Fingers and four feel just right though.
I should practice with a pick more I guess.
High on fire has some great stuff. Both that album and Dearth is this Communion are stellar IMO.
Snakes is a great song but for me I'd have to pick Turk. It's so spastic and sounds effortless. Been trying to play it fingerstyle using flicks for a bit and it's a bitch.
HoF really is MUCH easier with a pick.
Rumors of War for me. First thing I heard by HOF, saw the video with all the up close shots of Matts brutal teeth and I thought fake, like he was supposed to be part werewolf.

It's good to keep an open option there depending on the riff. We have been trying to keep our song tempo consistent. Failing on some cases. I either have to uise a pick or if we can keep the temp from floating I can focus more on using fingers more often. I'm leaning that way since I can add several more dynamics that a pick limits. It's all about what the riff needs. I also need a fall back option in case I do drop a pick mid song.
That's still my favorite album of theirs as well. Surrounded by thieves is in second place, then the rest. I really dig the murky, muddy, resin-crusted sounds of the first two albums over the cleaner, tighter later albums.
Last day of my vacation week (that's why I haven't been on that much). I had some quality time with the little slobber monster this morning, now I'm heading out to Sacramento to hang out with my buddy and go see Down, Orange Goblin and Bl'ast tonight.
Going to see that show next week. Pretty thrilled, got time off work hotel room and all. Like a mini vacation midweek.
Be curious to know what you think of Bl'ast live.

also played Fuzzbassian's rick over in Melbourne.. totally sold on the seymour duncan neck pickup - it coaxes some thick, thick low end that isn't there with the hi-gains.

Played at Saint Vitus last night in NY. Was a blast, sold out show real rowdy crowd. Back to work tomorrow, and off to Sweden for more in a couple weeks.
