Yeah, it looks like they go for $3k-5k, depending on the condition. This one has mods, so it's going to be on the lower side, but I'm trying to figure out what the balance is between what he wants for it and what the market will support. I'm slightly motivated because he wants to buy gear off me, but that will probably happen either way. He's a good friend and a really cool dude who's been in the doom metal scene since before I started playing music. I offered to see if I could broker something for him and package it all up real nice for shipping if it sells and keep the shipping cost reasonable.
There are a few that are on ebay for like $4000 but I'm pretty sure some of those have been listed for years... like that freaking awesome blue one. I'd commit murder for that thing haha.
Yeah, he was by my place this morning to check out the SG and we were talking about the ones that have been on ebay for what seems like years. I told him he should be somewhat realistic about the price, since he wants to actually sell it and it's somewhat of a player's bass and not a collector's item (although he takes good care of his instruments). I may have to wade out into TB at large to do some probing about interest/value, but I need to check it out in person this weekend and take some pics as well.
Bumping before it gets lost. Anyone have a sample e-press kit they could share with me?
Good point - I just rented a 12 foot box truck from Budget for 24 hours and the total was under 40 bucks. A van would be even cheaper. Mileage would add a little but it wouldn't be that much. I'll pass the idea along.
We have back to back all nighters on the 9th and 10th. Should be a sweet pay off too.
It is an amazing bass, but the Dingwall just plays and sounds better. It was a serious investment to pick up the first one, so it depends on how this one moves to see about a second. I am eyeballing the V4 Combustions, and the NG2. Serve as an active alternative/back up to my passive AB1.
It always amazes me when people get all worried about transportation, just go rent a truck!
Last summer my dad wanted to move some furniture, but his truck was in storage about an hour away at my grandma's house. He wanted to drive there and back to pick the truck up, drive around town to move the furniture, then drop it back off. That is ~5 hours of driving and fuel. I told him it would be cheaper and faster to just rent a uHaul and do it. Regardless of the logic and money savings I offered him, he insisted on using his truck.
Might not hurt to have it professionally appraised, considering it's likely still worth over $2k. I bet there are collectors out there willing to pay what it's "worth."

Yeah, he's an ebay guy too. He collects and sells vintage toys and 70's/early 80's skateboard stuff (decks, pro merch). I told him I thought he could get at least $2k-3k for it, even modded, considering how rare it is. Just a matter of finding the person that wants it. I told him definitely don't try to sell it local, with all the yahoos around here.
