Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Is there something special about the B1/2000s? It is the "added warmth"? I am not opposed to the B1000 but 2x 500w is more than 900w and bridged 1600w is more than 600w.

If I had a dually or any cabinet other than my 810 that could handle a kilowatt I would be more interested in the B2000 I think. Also despite the complicated nature of the BX1600 eq, I actually am quite fond of that style. Also this solves my lack of DI issue as the DI on the 4 pro is hum city.

Simpler amp, warmer tone, mono block.

I made a demo with the X100B on bass, but I didn't post it because I didn't like how it turned out. I just didn't like where the EQ points are and with higher gain it just sounded too saggy and farty to me. Of course there's no accounting for taste, someone else might love it for bass if it gets a particular sound they like.

Is the lady friend psyched you just spent the next few date night funds on yourself ;)

Also what's a tuxedo bass 300?

I saw a video demo that really sounded good. Then corey tried it for me and said it sucked. At the time I didn't have access to one to try and confirm, so I took Corey's word and just moved on.

Where are you finding the theory info for this tuning?

Just converting standard tuning to how the tuning is altered and working it out. I just ordered this book/CD though after seeing some good reviews. Good to know on the X100B!

Yea that fart word sold me on not buying one.

I'm pretty sure the guy who did the vid demo focused mainly on clean and little OD. Though that vids gone hence I asked you to try it out.

These are what you suggested to me. What's DSP and should I bother with it?

Also the 2000 seems really under powered, but the 3500 is 500w at 8 ohms, can a eminence loaded bassic handle that?

I would look at the IPR2-3000DSP. The bassic wont have issue running off of one side of that amp.

The Digital Signal Processing is on board signal processing. It will let you limit your output, set HPF, let you have a cross over if you want, store precreated EQ curves, and use MAXXbass.

Oh man, just saw the B2000 also has a 12ax7 between the preamp and poweramp just like the SVT-3 Pro that I loved so much but never could get enough volume out of. I think I'm sold.

The tube in that amp doesnt do much, and you can turn it off if you want.

So can it handle 500 watts? Or do I need to keep it lower?

Also the bassic sides the dirtier side, so can I store settings specific to each side?

We aint married yet, my money is still amp money, her money is boot money.

Being the self proclaimed foremost expert on early SS Peaveys, Tuxedo face Peaveys are what im calling the 1st gen SS Peaveys, with the screen printed aluminium faces as opposed to raised raised plastic face like your 400 has.

My PA200, Vulcan, and 300 Musician are Tuxedo faces. They look classy as fvck...so Tuxedo. Im trying to sell the 400, no knobs for $70 as its the outcast being non tuxedo.

Lol yea don't get married yet.

Yea I do like that tuxedo look, Had a friend of a friend with a musician 300 I guess it was, I offered to buy it and they said $300 and I just said never mind. What happened to your 400's knobs? I'd say rat faced booster is more of an outcast in terms of looks.

Theres way more Vulcans to be bought before i even think about it.

Im just keeping them theyre my favorite knobs. I put them on pedals and guitars and things. My Pa200 is worth more in knobs than the whole amp itself.

I would include the 800 booster with Tuxedo by year but theyre their own thing being a Festival series.
