Interesting, the 2mids should work for allot of people. Is the bass control shelving?

Dont know. For me it wont matter, as there is always a fDeck HPF-3 in my signal chain.

For me the real break down on the pre is this:

Bass @70hz, way more useful than 20 or 40hz.
"Low" mids @500hz, fairly standard, and I know it has worked for me in the past on my Musicman basses
"High" mids @2.8kHz, way more useful than 6 or 8 kHz that some pres have.

The standard EMG pre that comes with my combustion has 20, 1kHz, 6kHz. For me, I think this Darkglass will be much more useful.

laz.. im surprised you find anything made by Orange to be "honky". Ive always thought of them as having "just enough mids" at most, but never too much. Makes me wonder about the voicing on your EGC that perhaps it puts out ALOT of mids compared to other basses... (just thinking out loud)

That's very likely the case. I've had to completely rethink what gear I use and how I use it since I got my EGC, which certainly isn't a bad thing. I love the tone and where it sits in the mix. That's why I think the the Carvin will be a good fit. Nice transparent amp to just convey the tone of the EGC and Wizard Fuzz.

Speaking of, I snagged a Carvin B2000 for $400 shipped this morning

Morning fellas. Got all of the tubes in the Altec last night, but got a serious case of the lazy after dinner and just ended up watching tv. Such is my exciting life in winter time.

No games are played by this man! Lol. I think it's more your cab then the amp IMHO. My BASSIC has a mid presence that is hard to EQ out when I don't want the honk. Also speaking of drive pedals, I think the demon is about to be swapped back out for the RT. I run a more bass heavy/no treble tone and the demon doesnt have much cut if I want it to sound nasty.

You have the 3015 in your Bassic, yes? Those do have a bit of a bump around 1.5k.

How are you liking it? I love mine. Not so sure yet as to how much it loves the rest of my board yet, but it is a killer pedal.

That type of circuit may not like certain pedals in front of it.

I was listening to Rushing's Bandcamp and clicked on his Wizard Rock tag and stumbled on this band, not Doom/Stoner but getting a kick out of it, like a funky Zappa/fantasy lyrics/strangeness. Silly music for an Ice Storm in Virginia day.

Laz and I are both running 3015 dually's, and the mid 'honk' could be in part to that cab. I recall reading from some guys that the dually has a bit more pronounced mids.

Don't get me wrong, I love my current tone. But I'm thinking the Carvin may allow me to take it a step further with a little more control over my tone than what the TB allows for. If not, I'll just flip it

Nice, that cinder block in front of the drum brought back memories of the drummer from the punk band I was in as a kid. We practiced at his parents attic. One night after practice we were heading to the car. There were some cinder blocks as a half-arsed curbs in the bazaar grounds parking lot for the cars across from his house. His house was at the top of a hill on a main drag through town. So you crested the hill right by his house. So the drummer grabs one of the cinder blocks and places it in the middle of the eastbound lane of traffic and yells mallard or something, hide, hide, hide. Now I never have been into vandalism nonsense but he did it on the sly and by the time he yelled duck we were in it and only had cars to hide between. This is 1990/91 so here comes an 80's Buick Regal going like 45mph and it sounds like a car accident when it hit. Car just sits there at idle, nerves going crazy, then after what seemed an eternity the car slowly drives away. Drummer was FN nuts. Later became a crack head, which seemed fitting.

Even with a 15" rack on a 24" kick, my drummer still moves the kick. Understandable when he has to compete with Peavey Henge.

Our guitarist just picked up a poopie load of carpet for free, so we decided to carpet the band room. Looks like someones den now. very cool. Much less filthy looking.
