Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part Ten - What is this thread about again?

I was in Southside yesterday dropped by Toast's house, and thought about stopped in that music store again but went home instead. When I got home and looked at FB, the store posted a pic from a celebrity visitor. Wish I had gone :(

That is epic. Woody was 3 blocks from my house. Oh well, when Stone Temple Pilots come to town I'm gonna be lurkin around Pittsburgh Guitars hard, apparently they always stop by (minus Scott) and kick it with the guys, and Dean's been touring with a red Les Paul he bought there for years now. Dude told me no one recognizes them when they stop in... Robert (bassist) heard some kid demoing a guitar and trying to play Plush, sat down with him and taught him how to play it right, the kid didn't know he was learning from the man who originally wrote the song until they left and the guy at the store filled him in.

It's kind of the double edged sword with Florida.

Florida = Trailer Parks
Trailer Parks = Poor
Poor = Speed

Therefore, Florida = Speed

It is true though. Something about the climate there. The slowest music I got into when I lived there was hip hop, followed by reggae. However all rock music there is balls to the wall. It wasn't til I moved to Colorado that I slowed down. PS, I am not a speed addict, but I knew plenty of people that were. Rock music just isn't slow in Florida.

I am learning so much about Florida today! I thought it was all retired people and Cuban refugees?

I've done a lot of work travel in Florida, specifically Orlando and Tampa. Did a bunch of work on armored SWAT vehicles, bomb trucks, etc for OPD/OCPD. Orlando is nice but the ghetto is really rough. Tampa also has industrial slums just like Pennsylvania.

Among boxes of hollow points, I found a machete at one of the secret SWAT bases. Took a picture of myself with it before anyone could notice.

I agree, but Orlando is away from the trailer parks. Yes there are slums, but they are the track houses of the "WWII veterans coming home" era. Outside Tampa and on the way to Orlando is a few places that are just absolute stinkfest places to be in. Plant City, Lakeland, Wimamau, Ruskin, Land O' Lakes, Sefner, and some others. I feel m uch safer walking through the "ghetto" than I do the trailer parks. I'll never forget driving around "relaxing" when we came upon a crazy looking shirtless man, standing in the front yard of someone's house with a machete in one hand and some brown control top panty hose on his head. It was about 7 pm and it was dusk. Sun's going down behind him and it makes for the most eerie silhouette. That image is forever in my memory. I automatically thought of some B movie weirdo killer like House of 1000 corpses type stuff. Anyways, yeah people in Florida are on hard drugs.

Back to your regular programming.
