Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part Ten - What is this thread about again?

I bought a Gorm shelf from IKEA to do a cheap-o DIY pedal board, but it's quite a bit bigger than I actually need. Probably going to 'shelve' the project until I actually need a bigger board. Or maybe I'll just cut the shelf down to size.

I started working on a new CL ad for putting together a doom project. It's been 4 months since I last tried, so I'm going to go with a more specific and focused ad this time. Last time I went the "bass player looking, here are a few projects I'd be interested in" route. This time I'm going to specifically call out the exact project I want to put together and see if that gets me any leads.

Do you guys have any suggestions or edits for this text?

TITLE: Bassist seeks others for droning doom metal band

BODY:

Want to create droning doom metal that is slow and relentless, like the tide coming in? Does the idea of crushing people at 60 BPM (or slower!) put a grin on your face? Do you love the sound of fuzzed out pentatonic/natural minor riffs?

I'm looking for a drummer and guitarist to make music that could be the soundtrack to a paleolithic spaghetti western. Think tone worship.

Here's a few samples of the kind of music inspiring this project:
Sleep - Dopesmoker http://youtu.be/24pOo5htg9E
Conan - Golden Axe http://youtu.be/c8a-y1_kzCo
Bongripper - Satan http://youtu.be/UsbZ35YSAUA

I'm a 31 year old bass player with transportation and gear (although I'll need a new, bigger cabinet for gigging this type of material). I live in East Lansing and am available for practice 1 or 2 times a week (week nights and weekend days; willing to drive up to 30 minutes or so away). I would like to gig one to a few weekends a month (local/regional or long weekend touring only... I've got a full-time job and no illusions about doing much more than breaking even on money in the best case scenario). This ain't commercial music.

I drink a bit, but don't smoke. I don't rarely care what you do as long as the music is crushing and the hang is there.

I love those older Guilds. I'm torn on what my next bass purchase should be (either way, it's far off)... a 4-string hollowbody Guild or a 5-string Spector Euro.

Clearly, the Guild would be significantly cheaper, but I have such little use for a 4-string hollowbody...

But they're so cool!

Theyre so cool! but that's about it.

JoeVictim, I'm pretty happy with my new Mojo Hand Colossus, and there is no wait! Well, except for shipping.

All of this Monolith stuff sucks to hear but at the same time I was never really a big fan. Crazy money for clones of 70's cabs. I would much rather have the real road worn battle scarred up cabs. Also you can pick up a Beta bass way cheaper than buying a clone of the pre. Good luck to everyone that is getting the short end of the stick on this.

MCA, 2x18/2x10 with the SVT all in plexiglass...DOOM.

So I just picked up a boss re-20 space echo. I was playin it for about an hour and really diggin it and then my girlfriend comes in and says "is that your new pedal?....I dont like it.....It sounds like Led Zeppelin."
