Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part Ten - What is this thread about again?

I wonder, does anyone remember Guyatone amps for guitars? I ask because their big thing was having a preamp -> a one tube super low power power amp -> a regular power amp section.

Supposedly this was for achieving power tube grind at any volume, then ramping up the acutal volume with the second power amp.

I was thinking about this type of amp topography for bass. I thought it would be very cool to be able to get a super low-output amp "head" (with pretubes and power tube), and be able to line out to a light weight power amp. That would get you all the tube appeal and save you about 70 pounds.

Does this beast already exist?

Hey guys...so I wanted to give you guys the heads up before I listed it for everybody...I used to have a b3k and sold it. I just picked one up again to double check if I shoulda held onto it....but my first impression was right, its not for me....if anyone here wants it hit me up....im gonna list it tonight for the 240$ I bought it for to the general TB public if none of you want it first.

What is a b3k?

Thats probably true Sam!

Interestingly, I now know how you feel about Japanese porn too.

Kawai: its the darkglass b3k overdrive that alot of TB'ers think is the be all end all od pedal.. Its cool, but being a dirt junky it doesnt tweak my nipples the same way.

Oh, and Sam...I know how you feel about nipple tweaking too......this is getting weird.

It's amazing how much low end you lose out of a normal Big Muff Pi, they do sound great though, so I pulled it from my board.

I'm also putting the EHX Micro Bass Synth up on the chopping block again, as soon as I get money from the sale, I'm getting in line for a FUZZROCIOUS Dark Driving.

Looking for a guitar for some solo doom recordings. I like a wider neck and generally don't like Strats at all.

Any recommendations? I'm not a guitar player... and this isn't a "what's the best guitar for doom" question. Just curious what are some common guitar types used for heavier types of music.

I'd be running the guitar through my bass rig, which right now is a Gallien Krueger 400rb and SBX410 cab
