MarkBass LMII? I've been GAS'n over some MarkBass recently, when I bought my Ampeg it was between the B2R or a LMII, I may have made a mistake...I have to go think more.

The MB may be too modern for doom, IMO. I had one for a few months and sold it in favor of the shuttle 9.0.

Honestly, I think both the B2R and LMIII are both too modern. The B2R was ampeg designing amps for people who don't like ampeg tone.

Last night I was learning some older 60's/70's tunes and I busted out my hollow body thru my 9.0&115 it was thump city.

I had one for a short while. It sounded killer and the 2 Markbass Filters can give you classic doomy tones. One to scoop some mids and one to roll of some highs.

I have a LMII and I agree using the filters can get you some good Ampeg-y tones. Not the grind but a very nice warm Ampeg-y tone that you can augment with the fuzz of your choice.

Thanks! Aside from the minor neck dive which I can live with, it plays incredible and sounds awesome. Wasn't sure if it would be kind of thin sounding with just the one jazz pickup, but it sounds great.

Think of it more like a overwound single coil P pickup

That's true, the sound wasn't that far off from my P, although I find it more usable with the tone knob opened up than the P. Not like I'd use it that way. I hate the tone knob open.

It sounded like the tone was rolled off in the clips you put up that you said were the guild.

I was looking forward to this pedal and bought the DIY kit, but totally whiffed it. Installed the LED in backwards and burnt out some components... I think the PCB or chip socket was damaged as well, even after gettin Dwarfcraft to send me a new chip and LED, it still wasn't working right. I did some "troubleshooting" and now its completely hosed.

Not blaming Dwarfcraft at all for my own mistakes. Probably gonna trash it as I have no idea what parts are burned up. Still want to get into DIY land, may order up a GGG or BYOC to give it another whirl. But the The Great Destoyer clips are indeed maddeningly awesome.

Any suggestions on my next DIY failure?

Yeah I hardly ever play any other way. I greatly prefer how most basses sound with the tone knob rolled off. On my ATK with an active 3 band I always rolled the treble knob all the way off. That plus Chromes ensures I don't get any silly highs in my BASS tone
