Hmmm. I seem to have had the opposite experience. I might tweak the filters here and there, but I haven't really touched an EQ knobe in a while.

Also to note, the 9.0 has a similar EQ to the TH and the reason I picked it up. To a couple months later Aguilar coming out with the amp version....... FAIL. Still diggin on the 9.0 though, it not going anywhere soon.

There's no accounting for taste. I sure would not impose mine on anyone else, for sure. The LMII is definitely a good amp, I would never argue that. I really wanted to like it and tried to for over a year.
I had the same problem when I played my EB3 Copy. 30" scale bass on a 6'5" 300lb dude looks funny.
I had a Carvin BX500 before the LMII, and for the life of me could not get to like that amp. Don't know why, but I was a knob-twiddling fool the whole time I had it.
I loved the price of the carvins, especially at the power and weight, but WAY too modern for me, personally. Same deal with the shuttle max 6.0 I had.
I came really close to pulling the trigger on a Carvin B2000. Since I love my SB4000 and my X100B so much. There were still people having QC issues with them though, so I hesitated. I know Carvin takes care of their customer service issues great if you communicate with them, but I'm not an early adopter. I wait until the new model comes out and then buy the old one on clearance. I do really like Carvin as a company. If I had any kind of clout as a musician (nope), I would try to get a sponsorship with them.
Carvin is a company who should put out a tube amp! American made, factory direct, no bells and whistles... fender tone-stack on a 300 watt power section... epic!
If you wanted v30's back in the day, the Vai Legacy cab was some serious bang for the buck. Build as good as a Marshall.
If Carvin made a simpletube amp for bass I would buy it. 6x 6550, EL34 or KT88 would do the trick just fine. I use the clean nmv channel on my X100B for practicing at home sometimes and it has a decent sound, though it's not really voiced ideally for bass. They have been catering more to the jazz/funk/session bassist and the hard rock/shred types though, so it's not really crazy that they've been pursuing high volume/lots of knobs for bass amps.
I posted on Carvin's Facebook page(not sure if it'd do anything) about them making a simple tube amp around 300-400 watts, and maybe do a BRX12.4(4X12 version in that series) I'd be all over it like stink on sh**!!!
I like most peavey stuff but did not like the tube amp. Its ok but not built for stupid loud. Carvin stuff is pretty ruff and tumble for the most part. And if they made a tube amp, i bet it would be built very well. Also played a butcher finally today. Sounds good with a older peavey cab but i'm not going to spend that kind of money for a half stack that ill never use. I remembered today that i got some real cool tones out of an old Ampeg B 100 bass amp cranking it with guitar. Might try to find one on the cheap.
