I'm sure most of you guys already know...but If your into extreme Drone/Doom check out Khanate. Possibly the most painfully heavy doom band on the planet.

Hey, just so ya'll know, Parchman Farm is an awesome band. If you can't tell by the name, they are very blue cheer influenced. It's seriously like a modern/tight Blue Cheer, it's sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

I am firmly locked in to this genre at the moment. My recent CD purchases have included Acid King, Wall of Sleep, Warhorse, E Wiz, Saint Vitus, and Goatsnake.

Goatsnake's Flower of Disease is an absolute monster.

Wall of Sleep....that's some cheezy stoner rock. The lyrics and singing are just terrible.

Mastodon fans should check out the dvd that just came out. I watched it last night, and thought it was awesome!

Theres also a new CD "Call of the Mastodon" which features remastered versions of thier first release. 9 songs total...5 of these songs appeared on the Lifesblood EP.

Dunno if they've already been listed, but check out Grief, Unearthly Trance, Indian and Akimbo. They're all doom/sludge bands on the rawer, heavier side.

Stoner all seems to be heading in the heavier side of things: What about a list of bands that are more pscy/hawkwind/trippy influenced, I want to find more, here's a brief list from me.

Not to blow my own horn, but the band I, until recently, played with for 4 years was pretty riffy stoner rock. I couldn't tour as hard as the others wanted to anymore, and one of the guitar players had just left, so we all decided to go our seperate ways. VERY difficult decision, but I didn't want to hold them back at all. Best band I've ever played in, and I hated for it to end. But they've got a new thing going, and they're back on the road, which is awesome. Love those guys.

Anyway, the link is in my sig, and we definitely had some riff-rock influences, so I thought it would be appropriate to mention.

I don't think I saw Spiritual Beggars, Unida, Firebird, The Atomic Bitchwax or Fu Manchu mentioned, so consider it done. And if they HAVE already been mentioned, then they deserve a +1 from me.

(And now that I looked again, of course they're there. ROCK.)

If you want laid back stoner rock, I dont think you can get more laid back than some of Btrant Bjork's solo stuff...

Check out Scott Reeders solo debut "TunnelVision/Brilliance" It's pretty amazing.

Also for the pure rock check out The Illuminati, Clutch, Dozer, The Atomic Bitchwax (Their self-titled is pretty jam oriented)

Good call on Brant Bjork, that stuff is just flat out chill music.

And I still need to check out that Scott Reeder album, I love that dude. The sample I heard didn't exactly mystify me though.

It's more Pink Floyd-ish than anything. Really good to chill out to. Sometime SR.com has really bad clips of the cds they are selling so trust me. It's good.

Has anyone checked out Justin Marler and Chris Hakius' (From Sleep) other band The Saibans? Any good? I heard Marler is a Monk now anyway.....might be cool , a monk doing stoner rock.

My buddy told me i have to hear them. Said they are sick sludge/stoner/doom...but I've never heard of them.
