Wow. This is funny. My opinions on Acid Bath have changed in literally like 5 minutes. I listened to pagan terroism tactics at work twice and it bored me, but this is totally an enviormental album. I can't listen to it at work, and I'm not sure why, but listening to it here at home... it's pretty good.

Do you have both albums matt? I know it took me quite a few listens to get used to PTT but instantly loved When the Kite String Pops.

Failure only recorded two cd's that I know of Fantastic planet and Magnified. I have fantastic planet if you cannot find it I can rip it for you. A Perfect Circle covered the song "The Nurse Who Loved Me".

When the Kite String Pops is one of my favorite albums ever.

On the stoner side of things... Masters of Reality has been doing it for me lately. I just found a copy of their second album, Sunrise on the Sufferbus used, and it's got a great early 70s Cream meets Velvet Underground vibe to it. It also helps that they had Ginger Baker on drums at the time!

As for doom metal, I've been listening a lot to Bethlehem's Dark Metal, the Disembowelment discography, Pentagram's Day of Reckoning and Unearthly Trance's In the Red.

Features Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis on drums. I picked up their self titled album, and think it rocks pretty hard. Check 'em out.

I'm definately an Acid Bath fan. The new Deadboy and the Elephantmen album is also pretty great.

Isn't it more minimalist... like just guitar and drums? I really liked "If this is hell, than I'm lucky." It was more orchestral in nature on a lot of the tracks.

Forgive me if these have been mentioned before on this thread, but Five Horse Johnson, particularly the song "Ten Cent Dynamite" is mighty tasty. Their latest album features JP Gaster from Clutch on drums. I've been wearing out Unband's Retarder album. Shame they broke up. Nightstalker is pretty killer, too.

I know this was mentioned earlier, but I've been wading through stonerrock.com's MP3 jukebox song by song. I've heard lots of great stuff there.

Celtic Frost - Monotheist

Holy crap, this album is heavy! This is like Neurosis on downers!

I've also been getting into Sleep's Dopesmoker. Om is cool, too, a drum and bass duo consisting of Sleep's rhythm section that makes atmospheric stoner rock.

And it took me long enough, but I got into Saint Vitus, The Obsessed and The Hidden Hand, and they're all pretty awesome.

They've probably been mentioned, but Kyuss would fit into this catergory. The bassist used Ibanez ATK's... woot, etc.

Failure is the shizznit. I can't get enough of "Fantastic Planet." Stoner, but not in the style of Sabbath or Kyuss- it's liked stoned-nerd-sci-fi-shoegaze-rock. Nice and gloomy, I like it on rainy days.

if you haven't heard "El Caco" they are worth checking out, their album "Viva" is my all time favourite stoner rock album..

Terrafirma is a really cool band too, sounds like a mix of stoner and heavy metal.

You should check out Priestess - Hello Master. I got it a couple weeks ago and it is pretty good.
