Strap locks

Hi.

While he majority of TBers on this thread and apparently OP as well prefer Dunlops, my choice has been Schallers for the last 25 years or so.

No problems so far as long as You mount everything properly, including paying attention to the mounting screw compatibility.

Hack-job results problems, no matter what.

As for the talk about Schaller being a bad button design to be used with a strap, wasn't that the standard button fitted with Fenders for unknown (to me anyway) period of time?
To be used without a lock no less.

Regards
Sam

I wonder if it has to do with dunlops being 10 bucks cheaper...

I have used Dunlop, Schaller, and Ernie Ball. My favorite is......20 cent black rubber washer. The guitar players have asked me to buy them some washers the next time I am at the hardware store.

I have to take my strap off because my bass won't fit in it's case.

I have never found anything better then the DiMarzio cliplock straps. i love them. i was in metal bands for years and never had a problem even with a gibson thunderbird which is pretty heavy. and yes, i guess you could say stage show was big for us.
the cliplocks are indeed reliable, but i could never understand the point: they don't really come off!

the left-on ends are just as bulky to try and fit into a case, and there's no way you could use another strap if you lose that middle section of yours. it might as well be a solid strap permanently screwed into the guitar.

I just bought another set of dunlops yesterday.... I only use 1 strap and all my stage basses have dunlops..how I wish you didn't have to buy a complete set every time you get a new bass.

All Parts sells just the Dunlop buttons in all colours too. Should be about $5 bucks a pair at your local store.

Are you interested on selling me a couple pairs of your spare chrome locks?

I agree with depalm about the Planet Waves locking strap. I use one on my Ibanez cheapo but didn't put one on the Fender because I didn't want the rotating plastic piece to wear against the P.

The piece is rubber coated but my Highway One doesn't have the thick clearcoat the Ibanez has and I am worried it would scar it up. It isn't like I gig or anything though. I just kind of stand there in the spare room and play. LOL

Pino seems to have those on some of his basses. I know he has them on his red pbass with John Mayer.
I've been using the black neoprene washers and the Grolsch washers for years. They work great. Nice tight fit. Just pull them to stretch the hole to get them on and off. Very secure.
