I used Schaller's for years. Now this is all I use. They're like a washer, but they're made of neoprene. About 50 cents each. They stretch over the strap button, so they're very easy to remove/replace if need be. I have separate straps for all my basses, so I hardly ever have to take them off; but it's very easy if you do.
And they don't take up any space in the case, so you can leave the strap on in the case. I've never had a problem or had them come off without me physically removing them.

Dunlop on 1 end, a beer bottle washer on the other (think Grolsch)What strap locks are you guys using? I don't know which ones are best for bass since basses are a bit heavier than guitars. I hear many good things and also many bad things about the dunlop and schaller strap locks, so I don't know which to go with.
+1. Who ever actually NEEDS to de-strap their bass?
why is loc-tite not "acceptable"? it works perfectly with the schaller locks. The remedies for the Schaller system are to constantly re-tighten the lock nut so that the nut and washer stay in place -- or use loctite or something like that -- but neither is acceptable to me.

Just use a wrench and pliers to tighten the strap portion of the lock and it will never move!

I don't like the way my bass fits in the case without removing the strap.....
Dunlop dual-design straploks....They have no nut to come off unexpectedly. And the dual design allows you to use a regular strap if you have to....
edit: scottbass beat me to it....
The only maintenance is a drop of oil on the strap side once in a while.

To get more buttons, I need to buy more straplock sets and at around $20 each, that is not going to happen.
I thought I could just get the buttons for the Schaller ones.
I was told differently.
