Strymon El Capistans now available! Get 'em while they're hot!

Just an aside here as I didn't order an El Capistan, but if you're on the West Coast shipping is extremely fast. At least it is for me. Strymon HQ is maybe a 3-4 hour drive from me and I ordered a BlueSky on Sunday, it shipped out on Monday, and is pending delivery to me today. :D
The main reason that UPS takes so long to get to everywhere else (East Coast especially) is because of the way that UPS routes things. just about everything that is more than a local route between 2-3 hubs is sent to Louisville Kentucky to be routed through their main sort facility and then out to the destination hub. If it's ground shipping they will take their sweet time getting it to the destination as you didn't pay for the use of their airlines. :atoz:

I am thinking of buying this pedal.
Is there any bass frequency suck when engaging the pedal? I mean can you you notice the difference between the 100% dry signal when the pedal is engaged or your original guitar signal when the pedal is completely off?
I know it is true bypass but I am talking about loss of tone when the pedal is on.

I had this problem with the Empress Superdelay which I have owned.
The Empress is also digital so I am a little bit scared the Strymon has the same problem.

I am going to use this pedal on my bass, double bass and acoustic guitar, so I don't want any loss of tone.

Hope some owners of this pedal can help me.

This IS the best tapey tape delay in a box, followed by the Empress VMSD.

The Memory Lane I & II are not capable of tape delay type of sounds. However, they EXCEL in their modulation and oscillation features.

I had this problem with the Empress Superdelay VM: when the pedal was on it added highs and was cutting lows on the 100% dry signal. I really hated that so I have send it back after one week. That is why I am very scared to buy another digital delay now.

So I hope the Strymon El Capistan does not do that.

i agree with the 600D comment. and actually also with the maxon ad900 great analogue delays.

empress vmsd... on bass? :( i tried really hard to like it. but it was balls. awesome on guitar. but not so on bass. it was just dry tonally. had no soul. great features tho.

True enough. At least there's ridiculous demand for the pedal. I'm sure it means that we'll be seeing a lot more of Strymon in the future...

With their DSP programming skills, maybe we could even tempt them to make a Deep Impact clone. It would so be totally awesome. :D

maybe they only make a few each time?

What is strange is that they have an extra (Favorite) pedal just for one preset. How stupid is that?
They should make a pedal like the El Capistan where you can save at least 30 presets. That would be a winner (for me).

A lot of people DO have it, but it is in the hands of mainly guitar players. Talkbass is behind in general when it comes to Strymon.

I am pretty sure the next delay they come out with will have midi out for so presets will not be an issue.

I don't think that will happen any time soon. Just think the one preset extra pedal is stupid and useless. None one is going to buy an extra pedal for just one preset.

Well I think I have to take the gamble and buy the El Capistan. I am still a bit hesitating though because I don't want any bass loss when engaging the pedal. There is no shop where I can try it.
