.. hey man ***? Dissing on my town!Hahaha! My wife has some family in Phoenix, and they love that "It's a dry heat" line. I usually tell them "I'm pretty sure 120°-140° is where I like to cook a good brisket. You're basically being BBQ'd, low and slow!"![]()

Behold my Super Crappy mandola mock up! The theme was "Super Crappy Magic Fun Time" so I have now fulfilled two fifths of that!

The only "real" part that went into this is a plastic bass nut, which I bought for something like €5 a dozen. And yes, the strap.
Of course I'm being an idiot here, but the thing serves a real purpose: I now can form a much better idea about what part of my mandola concept will work, and what won't.
It seems that a broad and thin neck, such as I love on my main bass, will work here. On the other hand the scale length of almost 19" seems a stretch. Literally: I'm stretching my left hand to use viola fingerings on this neck. (The viola has a 15" scale.) So I must either accept I have to learn new fingerings, which would kind of defeat the purpose, or diminish the scale.
But anyway, now that I've built this mock up it's much easier to think about these things.![]()

Also made the winter build-off untenable but, now that the snow and subzero temps have moved on, I guess I’m lacking any further excuse!I think my Bride might have a thing or two to say about that! All the RV really "needs" is a bathroom and a bed.
The rest can be gutted and turned into a shop.

Build a bass for it and call it a "tour case".I'll have to tap out for the summer build. I have to finish my daughters wedding gift. Oak hope chest lined with purple cedar.
