It's already later than expected, sheesh. My local post office sucks. Because of this I usually get items shipped to the post office one town over, near my employer, but I've been teleworking the past year so I've been having stuff delivered to my home. Oh well... "late" is preferable to "never" (keeping my fingers crossed).

Finally got it today. I only had 20 minutes to experiment during my lunch break, but here are initial thoughts, most of which mirror what others have said:
  • For the toggles, down is on for Ultra Lo (big mid scoop), while up is on for Ultra Hi
  • There is TONS of gain in this beast! Way way more than I'll ever need. My only concern was how it would behave with my hottest bass, but I tested it with EQ flat and could get it as clean as I wanted (I generally don't boost EQ on that bass, but might test it tonight). I will definitely run the Super 300 at gentler overdrive settings: I loved my old SVT when it got kinda dirty, but not fuzzy
  • I was surprised that Gain set to zero resulted in zero volume, but now that I know it's not a problem
  • The Bright footswitch seems to be more of a boost than a tone change, but engaging it doesn't seem to crank up the dirt... EDIT: yes, the Bright boost affects the gain stage, but I've been able to set the pedal so that the boost doesn't result in too much dirt, so I still feel it's a cool feature

Most of today's audition was familiarization, but I LOVE what I've heard so far. :thumbsup:

I agree on all points. I have the gain around 8 o clock, and crank the master for my really hot Warwick thumb 5

I've been messing around with voltages and the Bright switch. Mine has held up just fine taking 18v from my Cioks DC7, but just in case, I'm not going any higher than 15v after @Sensei Tim 's post.

After going back and forth for a while, I think 9v with Bright switch on is my favourite sound. The increased voltages don't seem to give any extra headroom, but Bright definitely makes a huge difference. I gotta say that labeling it Bright is kind of misleading, because it seems to drastically change the bass and mid tone, without affecting the high end all that much. I really like the tone I'm getting by leaving Bright on all the time, and rolling back the bass a little to compensate for the overall low mid boost.

I'm a huge fan of that bright switch. I have mine set so that "off" is a full, bassy clean tone, and then engaging the bright switch kicks up the drive and I get about the best o/d I've ever heard.

Sadly I've had very few opportunities to use my NV610 the past three years (and no jam room where I'm currently living). I have some other sweet cabs, but NV610 would be #1 for Super 300 use!

Has anyone found or made a video of this pedal in front of a clean amp?
All I have been able to find is the pedal being used with an overdriven amp which would be useless for me.
I need clean and want to ability to color the sound with and without an overdriven tone.

I'm just going to run mine between bass and amp (possibly in conjunction with a compressor or 2nd dirt pedal for variety).

On that note: I was going to do bass --> Super 300 --> amp today at my garage rehearsal, first time playing with humans in half a year, but the barrel of my Boss PSA adapter is too short for the Super 300. If I'd have had all the usual music gear in my car I could have used a different adapter, but I was traveling light. I have another pedal with that same issue: deep power socket. Also, I blame myself: I should have tested Super 300 with the PSA at home.

If next weekend's gigs aren't rained out, that'll be my Super 300 debut with full gig rig.

Followup: I did the Boss PSA fix that was mentioned in another thread. The problem with the PSA isn't that the power plug is too short, it's that the outer rubber sleeve (strain relief) is too long. So, I used a knife and cut the sleeve back about 2mm (maybe less). Voila, it now works fine with the Super 300, and my Becos Stella.

Cool, thanks. My ISO-5 has one 12v and one 18v. I haven't gotten around to the 12v, but will definitely give it a try.
