I’m using a passive Dingwall Super P, this is where I have it set to get something approaching a clean sound.
I’m more concerned that I have to run the volume up all the way to get unity but the gain seems ott as well. There is certainly no volume boost available until I crank the gain past 9 o’clock at which point you’re into serious distortion.

Yeah, that seems off. Surprisingly, this pedal can deliver tons and tons of distortion, which is why I keep Gain at 8 o'clock for subtler OD. Even so, I have no problem getting volume boost even with gain that low. I suggest you contact Tim, see what he says.

I definitely need to do a few more tests before shooting off an email to Tim, like I said I've only had it running through headphones and not into an amp so far (into an audio interface or my HX stomp, I'm not plugging headphones into the pedal ).
Have to wait for the neighbours to go out before I can run it direct into my amp with nothing else in the chain and see how that sounds, it may just be something in my chain that is causing an issue.

Just tried it directly through my amp and it sounds pretty great, so I’m happy.
After messing with the settings I think I just had the low engaged after reading further back on this thread that low switch in the up position was ‘off’ (don’t believe what you read on the internet). Although it sounds that way with the gain set low it absolutely is not.
With the gain set low and that switch on it was making the whole thing overdrive like crazy. Both switches down and the gain between 9-12 o’clock and it’s working perfectly for me.

I should mention that I leave Bright on all the time, and flip both Ultra switches up, so your settings will differ from mine if you're not doing that.

Yeah switches up for me results in too much OD with my setup, I was just looking for an Ampeg sound without too much dirt, having the little bright boost was a bonus. I will leave the bright off most of the time and just use it to kick in a little more bite.
Both switches down with the gain turned down low seems to be way more bassy and less middy as discussed earlier in the thread back on P3-4, but once I set it like that and pushed the gain level up past 9 or 10 o'clock it rounded out nicely.

Interesting, because I also play a passive Dingwall (PJ5), but our approaches are totally different. I do like a LOT of midrange though.

I'm doing the same here, and keeping the gain at 9 o'clock for a great mild OD. This pedal could easily replace all of my other OD/Fuzz pedals, but I do hate messing with gain and volume settings during a set.

Mine also showed up today in the mailbox. Oh Happy Day! Gave it a little try-out last night and am impressed with the added depth and punch it gives my little Hartke KB-15. It will kick a couple of pedals off my board, real estate is limited. More testing tonight with my other rigs. So far, I'm loving it. The dirt is just what I was looking for. There are so many tonal options I need to set up a loop to play through it while I turn the dials.

Super 300 has defeated multiple overdrive pedals in my head-to-head shootouts. You're totally right about the depth- it gets crunchy, but still has that deep low end extension.

That being said, I love running the Li'l Fella into the Super 300, so I bet OCD-style circuits would generally do well in front of it.

Wow, this pedal is stellar. Sounds fantastic. The clean sound I'm getting is something you can't get with a conventional EQ and the gainy sounds are like nothing else in my palette. My board is too big (and full) as it is, and I don't have a place for it on there, but it's going to fit somewhere. Really great work, Tim.

We had our first socially distanced band practice on Sunday (it's been over a year), and the 300 was great! I initially had it set for a nice medium OD, and it fit the band perfectly. I also tried it against my favorite OD and fuzz pedals, and the other pedals disappeared in the mix even when set above unity gain. Makes me want to go back to a smaller pedalboard with just the Super 300 and a tuner

I'll try once mine arrives. I've been using a darkglass vintage ultra live with an omnicab sim. First time going in ears and no amps with a band I'm in now. Hoping it will sound good with the omnicab sim. Anyone prefer the Cab M, or has anyone tried both with the 300? The video online has a different sound with the di I didn't like, not unlike any other di for that matter, but can't run through and mic an amp...

I'm just going to step right up and say it:
Two freaking months and not one clean amp video to demonstrate what the box can make an amp or DI sound like? Not even from the manufacturer?
That usually spells freak a$$ noise maker box to me, but I do trust many of these posts so I'll chalk it up to unusual marketing. And I don't want distortion. Just a way to get the tone of my SVT-CL head through a clean amp and ported cabinet (without an Ampeg tube rack pre).

I'm sure he builds great gear based on this thread and he may change his demos based on this idea.
I just would like to hear a before and after with a clean amp.
