That'll be dawg to you sir! :D Don't know yet. I picked the pu's for the simple fact that they are oval. (and have good street cred) I've heard they are quite dynamic, which is good enough for this rocketship.

Yeah I've heard great things about the brand also it's going to be a killer bass I'm excited to see it finished.

Coming into the last week before the Supernova gets finished by Pat. I just shipped the neck today after getting the decals in the mail this morning. Playing w/the ovals lead to this arrangement which works best for me. Decided against painting the neck back in Sahara Taupe and specified the hs face only minus the bevel staying natural/wood which mimics the body bevel. To warm it up it will be shot w/a vintage tint gloss (with a satin sheen on the neck back) clear-coat the same as the body. If all goes as planned it should be shipped back sometime in the week after next. Psyched!

Details, details - the devil's in the details. Yep, the 1st fret marker and leaving the 12th fret as double dots was decided on this morning. I wanted it to be unique/special and once decided upon, those 2 design elements resonated with me. So the visual logic goes like this; all ovals are the same size / they are aligned in 2 groupings of 4, differentiated by width and length of each fret space / the 12th fret space double dots are flanked by double fret spaces on either side / and the #1 fret space symbolically is a "1" which points toward the headstock.

The hs "Supernova" seems a bit spidery to me - I think I could have gone bolder, like an 80's Ibanez Roadstar type graphic. But it will work in a more understated way over the Sahara Taupe section of the hs. All part of the process.

In general it's really singing to me - I'm excited to see it all come together soon!

I'm following the logic, especially after you spelled it out to me. I like the design changes.

I think I like the the Supernova text just as you have it. Once the backing paper is removed it'll look right. Also, it is similar in style to the Supersonic text and the way that it is laid out on the headstock, so you've got a bit of a branding thing going and I'm into that.

I seriously love your headstock designs by the way. I may enlist you for some pointers on my upcoming build, if you're up for it.

I just watched "Beware of Mr Baker" the recent doc about Ginger Baker. I'd recommend watching it - very well done. Like with Miles, Jaco, or say, Chet Baker (no relation) - if you really love their art/music, it's a reality/view that is difficult to watch/learn of because it isn't especially pretty. In some ways it sums up the complexity of an artists life and brings these "gods" down to earth. For me, Ginger Baker was one of a handful of drummers I was drawn to in the late 60's that included Keith Moon (The Who), Mitch Mitchell (Jimmy Hendrix), John Bonham (Zep) and Carmine Appice (The Vanilla Fudge). I had no concept of Jazz back then - only rock, and these were the most dynamic rock drummers of their day - hands down. Ginger Baker is possibly the best of that elite group - he went deep into his love of African music regardless of all the rest of what went on. two thumbs up

Digging that neck layout, should work well with the combo of the logo and the PUs, and the logic behind your choices is... um, logical. ;)

Just get the darn bass finished asap would you? That way, I can make plans to come there and steal it...

oh, I forgot to mention the anti-theft device that I routed into the body. Once tripped anything played on it sounds like an EB-O w/no tone pot. Not pretty.
