Well, wife gave me this for our 29th anniversary. Never owned a fretless or cared for flats.....but this is sweet. Plays and sounds very nice.
Anyone know what flats these come with? I am assuming Fender.
Yes, i caught myself playing up and down the neck checking for fret buzz........
I guess this completes my Leo collection, though wasnt really trying.

Your Wife is AWESOME! Excellent bass, and yes those are Fender flats. If you’re used to rounds don’t hesitate to swap them out as your fretboard will survive just fine. SR Sunbeams sound especially good for fretless as do Dunlop Super Brights. Congrats!

Thanks. Not sure if i will swap out the strings yet. Will play it awhile and see how it goes.

I second tindrum about your wife, that is indeed an awesome gift! That is the second time in a week someone's awesome wife got an expensive bass for her hubby here on TB. How do you get that lucky? Anyway, enjoy that great Jazz bass.

Thanks.

No so much luck, more like keeping my yap shut when she brings home another guitar.
Lol.

Nice bass! I would try some other pickguard color to emphasize more that beautiful metallic blue.
I recently removed the Fender flats from my precision after a few months in use. Man, these strings instead of getting better, they are getting worse week after week.

If you begin to think about switching strings, and like a warm, round sound, a good consideration is black tapewound strings. I use them on all my fretless basses....4 and 5 string. They are very mellow and full sounding, without being muddy, and motivate me to create more expression.

I have used a variety of brand names, but my current favorites are D'Addario and LaBella. Both are great, but D'Addario is my go to these days. Set number ETB92. The LA Bella set is 750N.

No one has ever gifted me an instrument. Please tell your wife I think she is awesome!
