SX Ursa 6-string Jazz bass

Nevermind... ImageUploadedByTalkBass1395789202.667553.jpg

I am impressed. Fit and finish are far better than expected. The fret ends could use a little smoothing, but that's it. Sounds great, needs some shielding. Haven't compared output to my other basses so I can't comment on the lower volume of the strings/pickups others have mentioned. Has the usual jazz tone colors.

My first foray into more than four strings, I'm used to a smaller radius but I found it very comfortable to play. Easy to overexcite that B string, maybe that's the nature of the beast?

Thanks to whoever discovered this deal!

Yep, it's definitely red. I get the impression that removing it would require a massive chemical and mechanical assault. If I end up in a long term relationship with this bass I'll get rid of the white guard and change to black or tort. Btw, the finish on the neck is really nice, not at all orange like the earlier ones.

Mine is scheduled Friday arrival... in everyones opinion...will I be happy??? I surely hope so. I am expecting some work, but I hope and figure it'll be worth it... $99.99 and shipping and great return policy...GOTTA BE...RIGHT????

Don't mind a little work, not really work to me, I love my instruments. Ready for some "neck slickin" etc. and I LOVE a low price for a quality axe. This forum has helped me tremendously and I love a great deal. Thanks to all the good reviewers. Big names are NOT always the way to go, especially on a Ramen Noodle budget, know what I mean, LOL!!!!:bassist:

theres this allparts bridge it's a hipshot knockoff not exactly the same as ahipshot but it's very comfortable just a subtle difference than stock but noticeable enough and I prefer it so much that I ordered another and I intend to put it on my red ursa 6 that arrives today or tomorrow also needs new strings the stock strings suck eggs I also put a fender chrome bumper on it all can be found on ebay the bridge is cheaper on ebay than from allparts but when you get it it's inthe allparts packaging

to my surprise this thing plays better than my black ursa. sustain is incredible. Pickups are good.
I wish I bought two because I'm not sure I should change this to a fretless. Maybe I'll keep this fretted and convert my black one to fretless. Of the two, this one plays and sounds better. Even the stock strings are good--different than prior strings (these have red thread). My neck is darker tan, seems a little heavier, and is straight. ONly needed to be intonated and lowered at the bridge. I raised the neck pickup 1 or 2mm.
I'll still swap bridges but as a fretted 6 this is bomb-ass bass.

I'm going to need:
big wide strap
new bridge / maybe a shim
chrome bumper
try flats on it
another guitar stand

for about $125 shipped this is by far the most economical bass purchase I've made. Quality is up there with MIM Fender the only exception I forgot to mention is a paint ripple on the back about the size of a half dollar & I don't care.
& tone knob doesn't do much but still, the bass sounds fantastic.

Even at $129 or $169 these are a great deal.

Stop it! You are driving me insane! Now you know how I ended up with three SX 6ers. And now you've got me beating myself for not getting a red one too!

Hint. Put flats on one of the SX and notice how TOTALLY cool it sounds. And then play your other one with rounds and note how it's quite different sounding, but ALSO totally cool. Then you'll know why I had to buy three. PS: Fretless 6 is ALSO totally cool!

yeah black one in post 909 has labella flats on it. I still need to try them on this one though to be fair.
so, either keep them both fretted--one flats, one rounds--or make one a fretless. Ideally I'd have 3: rounds, flats, fl w/ flats. It's not too late to get another; they're still on sale but not at $99.
I can live with the c.a. red.
