Synco Pickups?

How would you mount these things? They have wiring installation instructions on their page:

Wire pickups in series and use regular active or passive wiring circuits.

Drill 3/16" pilot hole through body for central mounting screw.

Next, drill very slightly bigger than 5/8" over same hole for pickup approx 1 1/8" deep.

You drill all the way through the body? And what...the mounting screw is accessable from the back?
Not sure if I'd want that mod...
Maybe on the top of a hollow body or abg.

It looks like the mounting screw is also the height adjuster. If you have 3/4" string spacing you have to be very accurate in your drilling for the pole piece to line up with the string. I guess that's why they suggest practicing on a scrap piece first.

I just saw this ad too. might be a nice thing to add to my EUB. I'd really love some soundclips or photos of an actual bass equipped with these.

And about the wiring: wouldn't it make more sense to reverse the wiring for each pickup to reduce noise? kinda like with a p bass pickup?
