TapeWound Club~Anyone?

Has anyone here ever used Status-Graphite black nylon tapewounds? They are by far my favorite tapewounds, but unfortunately, they are no longer made. Had I known they were going to stop making them, I would have purchased multiple sets. I'm wondering if anyone has used them and if they know of something comparable. Thank you!

Have the gold whites on my stealth Bongo 5, thinking of trying the white or black La Bella's. My eyes want the blk, my ears might want the whites. How far apart are these two styles in brightness? They're both ss rounds under, does the nylon color make a lot of difference?

Thanks.

Yes, the Black Nylons are quite a bit darker sounding than all of the White Nylons. I've only ever tried the Blacks and Coppers (which are the 'warmest' and least bright of the White Nylons). While I do like Blacks a lot, I absolutely love and prefer the tone and versatility of the Coppers. I can make them sound like the Blacks, but I can't make the Blacks sound like the Coppers.

Ha ha! Thanks...that would be funny if I missed that, but I'm assuming you came across that webpage via google search, and not by navigating the Status-Graphite website? I did that last year and got all excited, then found out that it's an old orphan page, and they're not available in long scale, only medium and short scale as they still have leftover inventory for those two lengths. (makes me want to buy a short scale bass just to use them) ;-)

See the note on their website near the top of their string info page. ...and when you navigate to purchase, they show as only available in medium and short. I had also emailed them a year+ ago to check.
Status Graphite. The finest hand-made graphite basses and guitars. Made in England.

*** PLEASE NOTE ***

Unfortunately our previous manufacturer stopped making strings completely
so we have taken some time to find a new supplier
who could continue to make our custom strings to our specifications.

We currently have only round-wound strings available but hope to have
flats, halves and black nylon sometime soon.
I will add a note to our website when they are available.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll send them a note again for an update and post here. I just put the set I have on a Turner Ren fretless I just bought...confirmed once again, my favorite black nylon strings. Wish I could find something comparable currently in production.

@Fat Freddy Thanks for the link though. Have you used the Status-Graphite tapewounds?
