TC Electronic RH450, RS210, RS212 Review Thread

It seems that my local shop (Steve's) has the ability to order these and I'm definitely about to pull the trigger. The tough part is going to be using cabinets other than my Acmes. Clearly I need to read through the whole thread for pearls of wisdom from Tom and Ken (:D) to figure out which of the cabinets to order. This will be my first "light" rig, so I don't think that the 410 is on the list.

If you want a somewhat more balanced tone from top to bottom, a little sweeter, and a little smoother, go for the RS210 (or two). If you want a tad more low-end fill, a more punchy presentation, and a little bit of "bark," go for the RS212 (or two).

Great advice. Thanks (as always), Tom! :bassist: Have you tried pairing the 210 with the 212? I'm not quite through the entire thread, so apologies if I missed it.

I did at Winter NAMM, but I have not done this since I received the TC gear in for review. I can try that soon, though.

Unfortunately, I only have one of each cab, but to be honest, I would expect somewhat better results from stacking two identical cabs, as opposed to the mix and match. At least if you go for vertical stacking, this would be my guess. I have, however, sometimes had good success with combinding 2x10's and 2x12's (Mesa/Boogie, Glock, and a few others), but those cabs were laid out differently, and did not allow for vertical stacking like the RS210 and RS212.

I just sorted out rig for a customer on Saturday with 2 x 212s and an RH450 - very fat and smooth, plenty of punch. we stood them side by side and it really fattened up the sound (as you would expect) rather than the more focussed tone when stacked vertically. I agree that a pair of 210s gives a really great one, plenty of low end and punch, plus the 210s are really compact. However the 212s are easy to carry (especially with the TC covers) so don't let this put anyone off of them.

The more time I spend with this range the more impressed I become!

oddio - here's a thought...get a 210...and if you're still into the idea of mixing and matching, get the 112 (which they just released)...when you just need a smaller rig you'd have one (and a sweet little one at that) and when you'd want both you could have it.

What I've read over and over and over is that mixing drivers could be counterproductive, and more similar drivers support their overall sound...but pushing 3 speakers instead of 4 could have advantages.

Hello again! I have not heard the cabs, so have no clue as to what they sound like. I'm digging the head a lot with my Berg AE at the moment. Nice tight, punchy, growly, grindy tone, and shockingly full and loud for its published power spec.

One warning... the RS212 is very deep from front to back, and a bit on the heavy side.

Too bad Lauzon's is pretty much only MarkBass (I know there's only so much room for gear and money for inventory...not that bad to be fair...)

That place is tha bomb.

If you like it and want to buy it, Lauzon's can probably order it in for you.

Probably worth checking into. They have some great deals on awesome gear from time to time.

Best DI I've ever had on a bass head, along with the Genz Benz heads. The cool thing with this is that the FOH guys have a huge amount of respect for TC Electronic, so when you show up somewhere that has a professional group running sound, they look forward to hearing the rig and the DI, rather than being miffed that you aren't using a cheap direct box.
