TC Electronic's expanded BG250 Combo Family

Someone check my math here...

If I get another Version1 BG250-115, can I take the DI out of Combo1, match it down to a mini connector, then pipe that into the AUX input of Combo2 and basically have a 2x15 rig, where all tone and most volume comes from Combo1, but there is separate/additional/local volume control for Combo2?

If so, that seems like a very attractive 2x15 rig...

Doable? Sure. Attractive? I don't know about that. I put together a cable to try DI out of my B3 to BG250 line in, and using that 1/8" jack on the amp just doesn't "feel" right. That's just me though.

If I were dead set on doing it that way, I think I'd get in there and change out the 1/8" jack.

The only thing I can really guess is that their speakers all cost about the same amount. And that speakers are a much higher portion of the cost than the electronics or cabinet. Who knows. Quality high excursion 10 and 8 inch speakers could cost more than a 12 or 15 for various reasons. Maybe that's why the new twin speaker cabs cost what they do.

I can't believe that their difference in cost is $60.

I like I said, look at Carvin's combo with the same amp section...MB115 and MB210 are the same price.

But you're right, who knows?

With the popularity of the original version it seemed just a matter of time before they introduced some additional models to compete with the GK line of combos. I like the selection.

Did I understand correctly that both Tone Prints can't be on at the same time? If so doesn't that seem like step backwards from the original? I'm running a compressor in mine now and I always have at least some percentage of the Tube Drive on depending on the situation so with the new model that won't be possible?

I'd love to hear that 2x10 next to the 1x15 just to see how much tighter the sound is but I really haven't found mine to lack in focus or hold a nice tight mid range. Man at $299 just buying another 1x15 is very tempting. I wish I had more room and more of a need for it right now.

No. You can't use both TonePrints at the same time, so for someone like yourself, who likes to use TubeDrive all the time, it is something of a backward move.

Obviously, you'd want to hear them side by side, in person, but this might give you a little idea.

Same disclaimers as before - I'm not a virtuoso and as soon as I was recording, I couldn't think of what to play. I played the first thing that came to mind that runs from E past the 12th fret on the G string. There is noise from objects in the house vibrating (I probably had them a bit too loud for what I was doing, so it's not a great recording, but shows a difference).

No Tubedrive/Toneprints on either. EQ'd the same; bass boosted (+2), small mid cut (-1)

Thanks for doing this recording! To my ear they sound very, very similar. The 210 has a little more snap in the upper register & overtones, maybe. But they both sound great.

I'm happy to be able to do it. I don't need two combos by any stretch. That marginal difference in the sound of the 115 and 210 is enough to make me want to switch up. The difference I hear seems to be right in the spot where I sometimes am not crazy about the sound of the 115 in parts of the EQ.

But wanting to an actually doing are two different things. $
