TC Electronic's expanded BG250 Combo Family

Um why does musician's friend have the 2x10 for $550!!?? I'm thinking it's because of the "free" pedal you get as a rebate but still way too much. I could probably find an used Rh450 with a cab for $600-700

Surprising to me since I just got from a good source that MAP was supposed to be $459. Not unbelievable because I was told the prices weren't final and hadn't been distributed on sheets.

It is the same as the 115 other than the two 10" drivers instead of a single 15".

$150 price difference??? I hope they fail to sell any at that price. IMO they're missing the mark by a wide margin. If they're trying to follow GK in pricing, they missed the major point that the GK 115 and 210 combos have different amps in them.

I agree that the pricing on these is out of whack. They're getting too close to their higher end stuff. My BG250 is wihtout question the greatest $300 combo I have ever owned< But for $500 or more, I'm looking at something else. That's head and cab territory.

Wow 499 for the 2x8 unit and 349 for the 1x12 unit. Their 2 speaker cabs seem much more expensive than the 1 speaker units. The speakers may be a much higher portion of the price than the amplifier or cab and adding ANY second speaker really jumps the price up much higher than youd think if you just compare cone area or cabinet size.. Bummer. I really think the 2x8 unit would be good for practices ( I go direct into our mixer and I'm in the in ear monitors a bit. ) since we don't play very loud. And we play a couple local tiny dives that seat about 100 people total.. tiny places that all our friends hang out... did I say they are tiny? Even my BG250 115 is way more than I need for those. I got my BG250 last christmas for 250 NEW on sale.. 499 is getting up into Markbass pricing.

I really don't think that's the case.

My gut tells me that these prices are not based on cost differential...more of a wild swing and a miss. I don't wish the company any ill will over this, but I really hope the 210's don't move at that price and they're forced to re-evalute.

Again, just a gut feeling, but I think they've been "helped" along in this, possibly by folks at MF and GC, and they've looked at the GK MB115 and MB210 prices without considering that one is 200W and the other is 500W.

Same power Carvin, Ashdown, and Eden 115 and 210 combos are the same price. Genz Benz and Markbass are both $50 more for the 210 (Markbass is a different cabinet).

+$150 is out of line.

I agree. I'm convinced that the "free" pedal they're offering has something to do with it too. I'm sure once that offer is up, we'll see price reductions across the board. They're playing on hype unfortunately.

I hope you are right... your reasoning makes sense, and it would allow them to drop their price more than if it were fixed costs like speakers. I can't rationalize a 2x8 practice and small bar amp for $500 At that point I'll start going head and cab and I really want a very small capable combo for practice and those small gigs. Hoping December/January sees a price adjustment.

I love my original BG250 and would perfer to keep with one line of amps.

I know the horse is dead, but that BH250 really should have been made to detach from the 208...that would actually make $500 a decent price. Fixed makes it a combo, end of story, and combos (at least at the lower end of the spectrum) that have an equivalent head model are not generally +$200.

Look at the BH250 before all of the other models came along...BG250 was +$100.

One personal positive for me in all of this is that my "Original" BG250 should hold some value on the used market after the stock is gone or made unavailable :D

I wonder if the 'old' BG250 head can be Frankensteined onto one of the 'new' BG250 combos...Once the proce comes down, of course...:ninja:
