Packing material adds weight, you know...(I've done pro shipping/receiving a BUNCH)

And definitely inspect (as in - open) that box BEFORE you sign for it...if they're repacking it themselves, something's up. And don't let the driver try to bully you into just signing for it...actually, you may want to think about you collecting it from their location; if there IS damage, it's right there in front of them...it'll be harder for them to claim 'not responsible' that way.

Well, My "IN" at FedEx let me pick it up last night at the FedEX sort facility. :hyper:
Sometimes it pays to be a truck driver, too. :smug:

OH YEAH! FedEx re-boxed it UP SIDE DOWN ???? Eh? really? I opened the box AT FedEx and the cab was up side down..... I guess the "this side up arrows" don't mean squat 'cause they obviously do not know top from bottom.:rollno:

anyway... His scale says 88.2 lbs ??? The box is just that, a box with 2" Styrofoam corner pieces and tape. It doesn't feel that heavy. :hmm:
Maybe my red line cabs are heavier than the new slotted model... I'll have to weigh them ...

First post in Part II, and I just snagged another AH500X off of our classifieds here. A few serial numbers later, and many miles less traveled by appearances.

Now to decide if I sell my functional but slightly dinged one or keep both the used and pristine on top of eachother?

Having four individual output taps might be fun to play with, but I need more speakers to really use everything.

So.... I was perusing eBay and found this outrageous auction from "the avantistore"
TRACE ELLIOT BRITISH AH400SMX DUAL COMPRESSOR 400 WATTS - eBay (item 150575864190 end time Apr-01-11 16:56:53 PDT)

ENDED - no bids.. wonder why..

HAHA! Really!? 1499.99 + 200 shipping for an AH400SMX and 1048H cab ??? :eyebrow:
The cabs go all day long for an avg 250/300 and the amp 4-600....
Avanti used to make CB radio antennas, he must still be in the clouds...

then there was this UK auction for;
Trace Elliot AH 1000-12 + 1048H 800w + 1015 300w for 2850.00 but that's a BRAND NEW one in the UK and probably about right for £1700.

Excellent:D
Pics please ....:hyper: People need their fix...:D:cool:

I may not be remembering correctly but I believe my redline 1048H weighed in at 92 lbs. -Luke
Makes sense as quality diminishes so does product weight...

I know they are not using as heavy duty or quality woods for the cab construction, but to go from 88 lbs 1518 red lines to 57 lbs on the current model 1518 (slot ports) ... I dunno...:hmm:

Not saying that all companies do or will - but you can build incredibly strong enclosures with good 1/2" plywood. It really isn't that hard to shave weight without compromising sound or durability.

Oh yeah no doubt. ;)
But to get 31 pounds lighter, I mean, that's 30% of the cab weight.
DON"T get me wrong. I'm not saying that the new TE models are junk by any means...I have one stack in the new 1048H & 1518 with the slotted cab ports on order...
I was just trying figure out why/how they got 30 Lbs off the cab weight. This one feels no heavier than my other 2 1518's and surely not 90 lbs. ...
wait,
I know..
BRB....

Well, S O B ...
My Health-o-Meter digital scale says 83.3 lbs.
Sure doesn't "feel" that heavy..
I have checked it against my Chiro's scale and it's 2/10 of a pound off.

So, FedEx's scale is off almost 10% (8 lbs) which could put the sender into the next higher rate bracket.:spit: I'll see when I get the billing for my account...

Not sure yet. I didn't get to see the box.
I called to see WHY it was back at the local DC instead of on my porch and the agent said...
" they had to re-box it as the box had a puncture or hole in it and it's too heavy for Home Delivery. You won't get it till Monday."
So, I made a couple calls and was allowed to come to the DC to get it after telling them "I insured it for 500 bucks and I'll be going over it with a fine toothed comb!".... :D

Well, there are "fresh" scratches in the grill and the grill was pushed in. :eyebrow:

Not sure if I should file a claim or not...
Aside from the badge being a little worn on the edge...

I don't know, seems petty but that's what we pay for.
I straightened the grill out but, don't have TE black paint. But it WAS in great condition before shipping.
The rest of the cab looks great. It even still has the price sticker of 499.00 on the back.;)

I had a 1518 cab shipped to me. The day it was supposed to arrive, I find out it was being re-boxed by FedEx because the box had damage and they didn't want to deliver as was.:eyebrow:
It was insured for 500.00 bucks(Price sticker says $499.00).

Well I went to them and picked it up. They had disposed of the old box and the speaker was upside down in the new box. I mentioned damage/scratches on the grill to the agent who tapped something into the hand scanner you sign for your stuff on.

Well, The speaker isn't "blown" it just doesn't move. Like it's frozen.
Would this be caused by being face dropped during shipping or is this something that happens over time?
Until I saw this thread, I assumed the seller sent a bad speaker.... and I told him so.:hiding:
The seller refunded me the cost of a replacement speaker with profuse apologies but, if it's carrier damage then he should get his money and the carrier should pay for the damage done in shipping, IMO. Cause that's the "right thing".
Any thoughts?
