Ive seen magnets sheared off the back from being dropped, not on the face I presume. I'd say FedEx repackaging it basically amounts to an admission of guilt. How hard is it to pick something up and put it down without dropping it, really. If they can't handle 90lb boxes they should insist it goes on a pallet.

Oh my! I refuse to buy cabs online. Im going to travel two hours to get my 1818 cab when I have the funds.
This one was 1400 miles away... Looked like new before FedEx got it.

DownUnder..
That's what I'm thinkin.. they dropped it. That would cause the speaker to "freeze" ?
I tried working the speaker (gently pushing) to see if I could free it up but, no, solid as a rock. But it sounds ok at very low volume. kinda tinny as would be expected, but not farty.

The seller said it has been at his house unused for several years. His bandmate left it when he moved away. He doesn't play bass and had no idea it was "frozen".

I don't think FedEx dropping the cab caused the speaker to freeze; especially when it was packed. Ive seen cabs fall out of trucks and vans(unpacked) and never have an issue. The cab sitting for years unused seems more of a culprit. I would take the sellers offer of a speaker replacement and get F.E. to pay for cosmetic damage. -Luke

What is going on with the red section and extra volume control??????

That is a simplified tube gain stage input that bypasses the rest of the preamp circuitry.

Yes, the VA400 is a killer head in its own right. I consider it right up there with the V8. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:
