Yeah!
The SMX has a blendable TUBE in the preamp. 2 EQ presets and a blendable 12 band EQ
A large selection of IN/OUT connections on the back,..foot switch, I could go on but, you would be pretty happy with this rig,,,
If it was in my area I'd have it already....

I already gotz the GP12 SMX feeding a Crown DriveCore & LDS 8 X 8 so I'm set. New Year's resolution: no more gear! That being said, I would snag it if somebody else has a sincere interest. I'm within two hours of Interstate 95 (southern Virginia) and could choreograph a hand-off if desired.

I' thinking about modding my AH1200SM to an AH1200SMX...:eyebrow:
Any thoughts?
My way of doing that (sorta) was to buy the SMX dual-comp pedal I showed a page or so back...I now essentially have an AH130 7-band SMX. Main problem there is finding the pedal itself.

...I would snag it if somebody else has a sincere interest.
If we weren't on opposite sides of the country, I'd be SO all over this! That stack for that price = SERIOUS amounts of win.

Cool. I'm in Portland Oregon. Where can we do the handoff ???

So I just scored a used/dead Trace Elliot ah300 gp12smx..... for $71.
Output section is dead I think.
So it will be a spare parts rig for my ah250gp12smx... or I will convert it to be just a non amplified preamp.
Or... I will get it refurbed with OEM parts.... or I may even look at having it modded to a bigger output section. And have some of the ICs replaced with better quality chips. And make it into an Uber FrankenTrace Elliot.

Christian at Unicorn Bass in Sweden is a Trace fan and he has been telling me of some IC upgrade mods.
Swapping some of the ICs with some high quality ones. He says makes a good thing even better.
He mentioned the input and EQ IC's, and that the mod is not complicated.

who to talk to.... Christian Olsson

tell him Rod sent you. ;)

He was telling me they can install their 1000w power section into an ah250smx sized case with a reduced overall weight of about 6lbs. or so, as well.
And that the 1000w can be available at 8 or 4 ohm. And that the 1000w is not peak.. it's RMS. They also do a 2400w and a 2 x 800w as well.
That's what I was told anyways.

:D I have dubbed it "UberTraceing" as foretold in the prophecies.

They also do some bass cabs. Invalid Link Removed
a 1000w 210 +4x4 cab. whaaaaaaaaat?

What..... an.... AH2400SMX ...?:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

Have you talked to BAS about a new output module? FYI I know at least on my AH1200 most all of the parts on its output modules are still readily available parts through digikey and would be way cheaper to do. I rebuilt my fan control circuit for one of mine for around 20 bucks and have extra replacement parts unless it were for some reason to ever go out again!

The speaker xlr doesn't have a worldwide standard. Trace did them different from the norm that Jansen in NZ chose, and they were focused on US gear.

I always urge caution with xlr as you never know what may have been rewired, and the leads tend to loosen up.

I'll check mine when I get home later. No substitute for checking your own. I don't even know if US Trace kept the same pin pattern.
