TecAmp amplification club.....is there such a thing yet

Thanks...I have been following the BAER forum very closely!!! hmmm...looks extremely impressive.
Heres my Dilema ..im presently playing (depending on gig) Mesa M6 2x12 Combo or a Ampeg SVT CL with Heritage 810...Both great in their own right, yet...its still somewhat not what Im looking for,"Chasing the Tonal Wet Dream"?...dunno?

I need something that I can add on (modular concept possibly?) depending on gig..and its not a huge labour to get to the gig...But I will be building this system from the top down...starting with a Puma 900....
Cab options: M212 8 ohm...get two in time?
L215...and get 10's in time ?
Baer ML115 or ML212?
Glasstone?

I love the Puma 500/900 so to me that is a no-brainer. For cabs, depends on your gigs and preferences. I have a pair of ML112s, generally only have to run a single cab (but I'm not playing a lot of really loud rock). I really want low weight and easy portability - too many years of back and knee injuries. So the ML112 is about a perfect "compromise" cab for my needs. Nice amount of low end support, great midrange detail (which I really want), under 40lbs, and can run "vertical" to take up less space on stage. I've never really been an 8-10 fan. I have run them on supplied backlines and never really been happy with my tone. Yes, I know that is sacrilege here on TB but that's my personal bias.

The Tecamp cabs seem to be in semi-constant flux. I had the XS112, S212, and M212 at various times. Nice cabs but in the end they didn't quite flip my switch the way I wanted. So far I have no complaints about the ML112. If you want that really deep sound I suspect the ML115 will kill - more booty than the ML112 but with nice quick/detailed midrange from the 6. I've gone through a number of amps and cabs over the past few years chasing tone and portability. Right now I'm finding the Puma/Baer combo to be pretty damn good. I have a Monique tube preamp I use in front of the Puma power section (though if I want to travel light I leave Monique at home and don't really suffer that much tonewise - the Puma preamp is that good, especially when combined with the Baer.

As a 4ohm M212 owner, I can say that I love the efficiency of that cab with my puma900, but its pretty limited as far as multi cab setups Having owned this rig for a while, if i had to do it again, Id get an 8 ohm m212 so that I had the option to add another cab (probably an M210 or L115).

I'm really curious about the Baer cabs as well. The M212 is the first "non midrange driver" cab I've owned in years, being an EA VL owner and a long time Accugroove user. I would love to take one of those ML112's for a spin some day. Something about getting the right kind of treble and upper midrange from a single 6" with no tweet makes alot of sense to me

I have become a believer of the Glasstone Lil G cab with my PUMA 900.
It is small, compact and weighs about 30# with 2 x 12 Faitels and a tweet.

I am amazed at the sound this cab can put out. I turned it up to the point that it scared me and it wasn't breaking a sweat.

Pretty good discussion going on in the Glasstone thread but I think a lot of the PUMA users here would really like it.

I don't have a Puma, I have the Black Jag, but I think they share the same preamp. I am a Glasstone owner. I also own 2 Aguilar SL 112's, and an Epifani UL 410 S2. The Glasstone LiLG is very versatile. It handles the low B of my MTD AG 5 and my Skjold PSD 5. It has great mid presence and cuts through the mix with ease. It can handle 1200 watts. What I am trying to say is that it can cover everything my other cabs can, but in a small compact package. Mine has the luggage rack attachment. It's so practical. You know that an experienced bassist made them because he has thought of everything, including the tilt handle mounted on the bottom. As a gigging bassist, it has cut my set up and break down time in half, without tonal sacrifice. I also have the Glasstone 1x15. I don't think I will ever need it. You won't believe the amount of volume this cab puts out; shocking.

Virgil pretty much nailed it. I compared it to my fEARful 12/6/1 stack (in another thread) at 2 1/2 times the cost and the Lil G more than held its own. For the money, I personally think it is hard to beat. Customer service (Sammie, who is also the designer/builder) is pretty incredible.

I am most definitely in the tecamp amp/glasstone bottom camp. And I'm happy to say that 2013 will bring my first Glasstone purchase. I'd say within a couple of months. Debating between one LilG or a 2x10 stack. A roadtrip on I-95S is in order.

Agree on the Puma bag. Just say no. I use mine for my backup that stays tucked in my car. I carry mine in the mono producer. Fits perfectly in the laptop sleeve. Other compartments carry all my cables, spares, recorder, etc. there are cheaper options though. Most any laptop bag should work.

I've been vacillating on buying the Mono Producer bag... is there enough room to carry two Puma sized heads?

IMO they sound big and neutral. Basically the sound of whatever I plug in comes through without coloration but with plenty of heft, even at low volumes. I'd compare it favorably to my Euphonic Audio VL
110 stack minus the inefficiency... and it's louder and weighs noticeably less than one of them. IOW just about too good to be true.

I'll probably gig with the EA stack while cab is at the NAMM show. Should be fun.

Thanks for tip on the mono. I have their double gig bag and wondered if they had something that might work. I got the Producer from Hello music for $105 plus shipping by using their first time order coupon.


I wanted to put out there that I am looking for a Puma 900 for sale if anyone has one. I'll probably buy one new shortly if one doesn't pop up.
