Tech 21 bass fly rig

Actually, I wonder if it's full analog.
Anyway, here he talks about the signal chain:

And here he uses the chorus with sansamp only:

Funny how they packed in that device everything I use on my Zoom B3. I'm gonna replace it with the Flyrig, gonna miss the looper though.

The only time there is any digital in the analog signal path is when the Octafilter section is engaged. How much is digital is dependent on the Mix ratio. The Comp, Boost and SansAmp section is all analog and the Chorus is digital but runs through a parallel mixer so there is no break in the analog signal path.

Thanks, I had the hunch the fx section was digital. I guess a full analog design would have made its price way higher than 299$.

Ordered. I'm not entirely sure I'm in love with the chorus, but it doesn't suck, and I use chorus in about four songs...
I haven't read (probably missed it) whether or not the chorus is essentially the Bass Boost Chorus stuffed into the Fly Rig enclosure, but if it is you'll either love it or hate it. It's a very distinct chorus sound. I found it sounded too good and lacked enough of the chorus cheesiness from the 80s that I was going for. It's a very high quality 70s sounding chorus for lack of a better term. Again, this assumes it's the BBC re-housed in the Fly Rig, which may or may not be the case.

It seems like it is, but with ONE control knob. Sounds like a bit more pre-delay than I tend to like. I'll keep my corona until after the fly arrives. We shall see. Like I said, i don't use chorus on lots of stuff anyway, so as long as I can live with it....

I don't think it would sound the same. In the first video I posted, they describe it as a pitch detuner, as is the Bass Boost Chorus actually, but, also in this thread, Tech21 confirmed the chorus section on the BFR to be a digital circuit while their BBC is analog.

Definitely different then. I wonder if they stuck to their tone philosophy with the BBC and made the BFR's chorus sound similar.

I'll be interested to hear how this all plays out (beyond just the chorus of course). While I don't currently own any Tech21 products, I've always liked them as a manufacturer who puts out innovative, high quality gear. I hope this BFR turns out to be great for folks that want another multi option.

I am definitely getting one. I will be using it exactly as intended, on fly dates with an unknown back line, or for acoustic shows with just my singer/guitarist and myself in a very minimal setting. Plus having the ability to plug in and use in a hotel room is very handy to work on the tones. While it may not be perfect, it will fit my needs as a professional bassist traveling needing a minimal footprint at times.

The Chorus in the Bass Fly Rig is the Boost Chorus Bass pedal. The Detune is set for 1% flat and the other parameters are preset.

The stand alone Boost Chorus Bass pedal does use a digital circuit. The Mixer section of the pedal is analog. This allows you to keep your signal path analog unless you set the pedal for 100% wet. In the Bass Fly Rig the highest mix setting is 50/50.

Oh, I was very wrong then.. I was so sure the standalone BBC had a full analog design.

3 things.

What goes into the mix on the filter section? Is it truly clean or will the compressor and SansAmp (if applied) be mixed in?

I suppose the fuzz is based on the Bass Boost Fuzz?

Octave, that´s a new one? Any reference to what its like? OC2? Pog? Single octave down?

...

If you listen closely around the 9minute mark he implies that this Sansamp is more flat with everything at noon than previous Sansamps.

Wooohooo for less scoop! I have wanted so bad to like all the RBIs and VTbass I've tied but that scoop really just turned me off.
So much more excited now.

The signal path of the Bass Fly Rig is as follows:
Input Pad-Compressor-Octave Filter-Boost-SansAmp-Chorus. (If Boost is set to "post" it will follow the Chorus.) The Mix section on the Octafilter will blend in your straight signal which can also include the compressor if you have it engaged. As for the effect of the Octafilter it is an envelop follower and was designed to get Moog "style" types of sounds. The Fuzz is a square wave and is designed for "synth" types of sounds. The Octafilter is quite flexible and we will be doing a detailed video of it in the future.
