Tech 21 bass fly rig

I'm guessing this is not included but is there a way to bypass the Sansamp so it doesn't effect the sound coming out of your cab but the effects and compressor effect both the pa and bass cab? I use a Sansamp as a DI only but adding those effects and compressor would eliminate my need for a pedalboard.

Damn, this would have definitely been on my wish list when I was doing a lot of road work. It would have made a great backup and solution for gigs were breaking out a rig was not practical.

To those who have played through one, what did you think of the comp? On board compressors are often meh. I'm hoping Tech21 spend some time on a good compressor.

It's worth noting that according to various sources, the "speaker sim" in the Sansamp section is just a mild EQ curve. It shapes the frequency response at the output just enough prevent extraneous frequencies from spoiling the tone when you go direct, but it doesn't add simulated cone cry, large low-mid bumps, etc., that would cause problems when plugged into the front of an amp.

Obviously it's not going to perfectly mimic the sound of a mic'd cab at full volume, but it works exactly as advertised with the guitar version. In my testing, it allowed me to improve the sound of so-so combo amps, and fix FOH problems with the same unit. All it takes is a tweak of the tone controls for each source.

Very thoughtful design, and I'm hoping that the bass version works just as well.

Is it just me, or are the NAMM videos for the Bass version absolutely horrible?

Tech 21 should invest in some proper promotional videos.

Based on YouTube, I would have written the Fly Rig off if I hadn't already experienced how nice the guitar version sounds with a bass...

I thought they were really bad as well and I'm a big fan of their products. It would be nice to see a few decent videos with actual bass players playing.

I agree; all the sounds demoed were with the respective knobs dimed - Q and Range on the filter, Mix on the chorus - nothing nuanced at all. I do love the phat synth sound of all the crap turned on at once though, i'll have to admit.
