Tech 21 bass fly rig

This was my board the other day at a Drive-In gig. I contemplated selling my BFR but this has now become the centerpiece for this particular board, and for that it is excellent! Yes the octafilter can be challenging, but a few tweaks here and here and I can make it work....View attachment 3847888
Cool board. Do you get any noise from the BFR compressor if there are other pedals placed before it?

Big board and small board.

I just received a new one from the always awesome Alto Music. I've owned this before but wanted to have it again as I barely play anymore and just wanted something simple. To be able to still have the sansamp but a couple extras that I always liked to play around with like Chorus and Envelope. I also noticed that this model seems to be a lighter shade of blue from my previous one and also in comparison with some of the other ones I see in this thread. Did I miss something or is this just how these are being shipped out now? It also came with a nice rugged braided power supply compared to the old standard version. No complaints here.

The colors vary slightly from batch to batch. The one you have is the newer lighter blue like the SH1 pedal. We're glad you noticed the newer power supply.

These fly rigs Tech 21 are putting out are just things of genius. I mentioned above somewhere I think but I love the VT Bass circuit in this unit. The drive has been dialed down a bit which also allows me to boost my highs for some added clarity without any extra noise. The boost can give you that extra hair that they scaled back in the drive. This Orange combo that I run it into has some kind of cab sim going on with the headphone out but it doesn’t seem to clash with the cab sim going on in the fly rig. These units really can be the only thing you need to pull off a show. And a bass of course!

Not sure if this has come up with other people, but I went through two of these fly rigs and returned them both. I was trying to use them in combination with several other pedals, which might have been an issue. Now that I've been stuck at home for a year, I'm looking again into picking one of these up and using it by itself.

Tech 21 from what I believe put this pedal out with the intention of being the only pedal you'll need to pull off a gig but I see a lot of other folks here using it in conjunction with other pedals. What issues were you having?

Good question. I have my BFR on my pedalboard with HPF / comp / chorus upstream and a DSM Mini OmniCabSim (don't really need it...got it in a trade) on the tail-end. When feeling either particularly lazy or pressed-for-time, I can snag just the BFR & power source and I'm instantly gig-worthy. I've had not interactive conflicts but, then again, my pedal selection is rather benign.

As I recall on the first one I sent back, it had some signal loss issues that I recreated for the sales people at GC. The second one just didn't play well with my other pedals. I purchased my third, used from GC the other day. I've had a regular Sansamp for over 20 years, so I can dial in that portion of the pedal. As for the rest, that's what the manual is for.

So, from what I’ve read or heard about these, the octave effect always has that Moog rez filter sound?
I’m very interested in the fact that the BFR has a piezo-tolerant input for my piezo-only fretless bass,
and would like to have just a natural one-octave-down sound available.
Not possible?
I’d love a 1-piece portable multifx pedal...i already have a great largish pedalboard, which i never use anywhere but home because I don’t want to schlep it.
Edit: found more YT videos, seems like the octave can be engaged much more subtly.... (the compressor,too)....looking hard at getting one now.
