P-basses are funny things - I really think they are best played with a pick and *really* leaned into - something about that p'up and its placement create a great roar when played that way that just doesn't seem to happen on a J bass.

Oh, that's right - this is a SansAmp VT Bass thread... Uh - I want one too!

really? sounded entirely too bright and attacky to be a P bass. learn something new every day i suppose.

and if i can get similar tones from a VT, id be a happy man.
Precisions are highly versatile, way more than many people think. It has its own tone but also takes on the personality of the player more than any other bass out there. Someone who uses rounds and digs in with a pick like Mike Dirnt, maybe scoops the EQ a little, that's how it sounds.

had first jam today with my band using my VT bass i got a couple weeks ago.
the sound in the mix was a bit too harsh and aggressive when i played with the band.
i've now changed my settings with low cut instead of high boost.
going to see how these new settings sound on wednesday at next band prac.
hopefully it won't be super aggressive SVT sound but just a good tube SVT simulation.

I did a gig today with the VT into my REDDI and IEMs... Sounded pretty darn good in the ears... It can get some compression too which is nice... I dialed up a cross between an SVT and a B15 according to the settings that they have on the enclosed suggested setting sheet...
I used my franken Jazz bass on the gig.. I need to do that again

Right. The supplied settings are not great. You pretty much have to find your own way with it.

I think I'm psyching myself out on the pedal some... but I almost feel like it's cutting my mids some. But it might just be that the lows and highs seem so warm well-defined compared to my b2r.
Character knob is more of a mid control than the mid control IMHO. The mid knob is 500 hz which is too low to control the mids the way I like them. But the character knob past 9:00 is where your upper mids live.

you did me right... sweet box.. Im getting the hang of it still...
Their suggested settings are pretty good but i have come with with one that i think is a cross between and SVT and B15 sort of.... according to their little sheet that is... it is a slightly grindier B15 and slightly less mid scooped than the SVT in a way...
Its going to lbe a mainstay in my gig bag...

I have only used it on IEM gigs so far and not used with an amp.. this week though.
Thank you Jimmy for helping me out with the decision''

Dang you with the suspense! Gotta see if I did you right or did you wrong ;)
