Terrible gig story...

I don't know the OP, but these are often the same people who complain because the police never do anything about crime. How sad that being part of the punk 'wall of silence' is more important preventing women getting raped. :rollno:
You are right you don't know me.. Or anything about APD. But go ahead and make your divine judgments from behind your keyboard.

He probably is, it happens all the time here. There are about 40 people actively looking for him. When he's found, he won't be able to use his limbs for a long time. I do not talk to cops, nothing good can come from it. They're not going to go out and search for him. Too many easy targets here like public intoxication, jay walking, DUI, etc..

Well, he was obviously there that night, and still has all his limbs - so I call into question how effective you expect your method will be. Your call dude - you better hope it's not someone you know the next time a woman is dosed. And if he does get beat up, HE's going to the police, and your buds are going to get arrested for assault.

As much a fan as I am of vigilante justice (and I am) I'd concur that it's best to get the police involved on this before running him down like Wyatt Earp. While I agree that they're not likely to go after him with a warrant and SWAT team, what WILL help is creating a police report that can be used against this guy if he's ever caught. I admit that I'm not a law enforcement officer but it seems to me that if he's found to be responsible for multiple instances of drugging innocent people the charges and penalties will grow increasingly severe with him.

Going after this guy yourself and beating him up is just going to give him a basis for an assault and battery case against you and your friends (you've already publicly admitted to this being your intent by posting so on Talkbass which could be used as evidence against you). Believe me, nothing you do to him is worth that and most inmates in correctional facilities have their own methods of dealing with those who harm women and children.

By all means, keep vigilant and do your best to catch him in the act WITH WITNESSES but let the police do the heavy lifting here.

It's all well and good to believe that talking to the police will get you nowhere, they're only interested in revenue raising la la la.
But if you ever in a life threatening situation, think about who you will be calling on...

Mr's Smith and Wesson :D. The police response time where I live can be 30 minutes or more...

Wednsday night I played a show here in Austin. Everything was perfectly normal business as usual. I drank my normal couple of pints and it was time to set up. It was really hot, but no hotter than usual. I began sweating profusely, and started to cramp. Two songs into the set I blacked out. I have no memory of the show, or being picked up by my girlfriend. She knew I wasn't that drunk. My pupils were huge, and I was mumbling incoherently.. I laid in bed till 5 am slurring and drifting in and out of consciousness. I woke up at about 3pm, very freaked out and cramping all over. I headed to the pharmacy and bought a drug test. I popped for GHB!! I got freakin dosed! I'm sure it was meant for a female I was drinking next to. Keep an eye on those drinks, folks! I am glad I got it, and not her. Be careful out there. Thanks for reading. Bb
Your explanation of effects is exactly what had happened to me over last winter. Thank goodness I wasn't playing, but sweating, drifting in and out. I learned a lesson about leaving a drink away from sight. Never again. No clue who it was, but only who it could have been.

What's crazy is that I know a lot of women who have had near miss incidents. I probably know some who are flat out victims, but are ashamed to admit it. Most were out of town (cruise ships, Mexico). Still, who are the guys doing this? It's not that difficult to get laid! Pretty much every woman everywhere wants to at some point in their lives with someone, often relatively soon. Maybe they like their women like they like their cold cuts.

I wonder how much is just "get 'em drugged and take their wallet and iPhone." Is it all sexually driven?

The OPs big issue is that any cop is going to immediately look at him, his surroundings and his lifestyle and think 'right. You had some bad Molly' or something. It's pretty natural. If he knows a cop or the women's center, that's cool, but he's right. The likelihood of someone who doesn't know him taking him seriously is slim. And I like cops so ain't no hate here. Just the way of it.

Something like this happened to a friend of mine. She had some friends with her and managed to keep her wits about her enough to avoid being taken advantage of, but that's not always going to be the case. It is completely unacceptable behavior. If there's a way of keeping an eye out for the guy you think did this, and assembling information for the police to use to bust him and put him away for a long time, it would be a service to humanity.

Damn! Roofies right before a show? Glad no one took advantage of you at least =) It must've felt really horrific, experiencing that!

When I drink out in clubs and at concerts I always buy bottles of beer so I know no one tries to fiddle with my alcohol!

I know too many stories of spiked drinks, going back to LSD daze. When I see it some one will get hurt and outed for it. Why so harsh...

I have a dear friend and former amazing athelete, musician and drummer that was dosed with a mixed coctail of hallucinogens, he has been residing in mental institutions for the past 35 years and will die in captivity or homeless. He was dosed by a jealous boyfriend of a close friend that was threatened by their friendship.

Sadly I do agree with not going to the cops in Austin, as liberal as the city appears to be the police force seems to hold a different attitude especially for musicians in what is supposed to be the 'live music capital'. I live here but rarely play here because of that.
