La Marque, near Galveston; I know several of the people here. Currently in one cover band, barely able to make it to gigs, I play mostly 5's, though I do have a six, and several fours...I don't play all the time (and it SHOWS!), but I do gig at least once a month. MarkBass LMII head into whichever Schroeder I happen to grab on the way out the door! Also double on keys and vocals. Yes, I do play keys and bass at the same time...

Dallas area. Playing in two bands, 1- 4 piece cover band, we all work together, play at company parties. 2- an original band, still getting our feet wet. Writing and recording, lacking a drummer, (full time), and a female lead vocalist. Sort of synthy heavy pop, with emphasis on our guitarists 7 string wizardry. I play mostly my 2 Rics, a TBird 5 string, and a GL Jazz, through Ampeg and Mesa gear, lottsa effects, and my Moog Little Phatty for extra synthy madness. There's alot of us here, huh?

His name is Jody Beddingfield, and I don't know which church he plays at. He was playing with a group called White Chocolate, but I believe they recently changed the name of the group. I would call the band funk, but I think they've started to cover other styles as well. He still comes back to Corsicana to teach at the college, so I'll try and catch up and get some more information for you.

I'm a Texas bassist. I live near Denton, the closest town would be Little Elm.

My current band (the FARSTAR): Link Removed or www.garageband.com/farstar -we have one LP out and are about to drop an EP. We also have another LP about 80% done. Typical Indie rock stuff.

I also play about 1/2 of the worship services at a non-denom. church in Frisco called Genesis Metro. contemporary modern worship.

Sometimes I help or fill in for some of my friends with recording their demos and playing shows original and covers (I also play drums, keys and guitar).

my rig: GK 1001rbII or 800rb into 2x GK neo 2x12s. Fender P, J, Jag or Musicaman V.

Here's another guy in the East Texas armpit, although Longview ain't such a terrible place to live. I play an Ibby BTB405QM at church, I'm working on building a rig (Crate BX220H should be arriving this week, and I'm planning on building a Bill Fitzmaurice cab or two to put under it) and I'm keeping an eye out for a gig that would fit a busy guy with a young family and not a whole lot of extra time.

Corpus Christi Area.....

Currently trying to get a gig off the ground in Austin... Make the trip every couple of weeks to catch up. Writing solo stuff in between trips.

Played a lotta gigs down here a few years back. Mostly original metal, rock, hardcore, grind type stuff. Took a four year break with the birth of my first son.

Back in the saddle now & trying to start from scratch. But, I ain't in no big hurry. :D

Hey, Mr. Black:

My son played bass for The Illusion in Portland for a while (couple of years), until he left the band sometime last year. Ever hear of them? They played places like the Blue Ghost Landing in Corpus and Downtown Riot in Alice. He lived in Portland, but has since moved back to Austin.

They sound familiar.... I was gigging heavy from '99-'03 we played a couple of shows @ the skatepark in Portland when it first opened... I worked with a guy that owned the local skateshop & organized contests... I remember playing with a lot of bands from Portland, Ingleside, Rockport areas... I was living in Corpus @ the time. My memory isn't what it used to be, because of various intoxicants being consumed @ the time :p....

Dude, I just read your post..... If it was a couple of years back then I think that I have seen them. Me and some work buddies have hung out @ the Blue Ghost when bands were playing & they could have been one of them... Prolly why they sound so familiar... :D

Cypress... that's NW Houston area. Lately most of my bass gigs have been with my Yamaha YSB200 EUB through an old Acoustic 140 through SWR 2x10, playing jazz/standards with piano and drums.

I've been wanting to branch out a bit and work more, so I am thinking of answering some want ads for working country bands. I have my trusty 1983 USA Fender Bullet ready.
