Yes, I have played the Variax quite a bit. I've used it in both live and recording with good results in both.

Lately I've been gravitating towards the four bangers, so it's been getting ignored for the last few months.

The Variax was originally purchased for recording, but it was built sturdy and felt good. so I took it out and gigged with it. It still has a place in my stable...just resting for now.

Well count me in, one for every day of a Beatles week.

'84 Tokai Jazz (defret) blue with tortoishell pick guard
'85 Yamaha BB1100s blonde. lovely bass with a nice wide neck, 43mm at the nut.
Hohner B2A (Steinberger copy) black. Always loved the look of these basses and it still turns heads these days.
Columbus Series 3 green. Don't know anything about this bass as I've never seen any since I bought it. Only cost £125 back in late '80s. Great bass to play and through the SansAmp BDDI it sounds even better.
Yamaha TRB6II amber. First move into multi strings. Don't know the date as I bought it second hand. Very heavy.
Spectorcore fretless. Had it setup recently and put a set of halfwounds on it which has just brought it alive. Don't use the mag pup much but the bridge pup sounds great.
Stentor Arcadia DB second DB I've owned and the bass that is used most. Strung with Spirocores now which helped a lot.
NS CR4M Everyone who plays them loves them, nothing more to say.

If I joined that club, I'd probably also have to join the Divorced Bassists Club. Then alimony and child support would kick in and force me back into the 5+ club.
