Yup - that sounds exactly like what I had too. Horrible pop and then it felt like one of the drivers was OFF and then ON.

Check it out - it is a very cheap and super simple mod to the system and it has served me perfectly since.

Just be sure to staple any excess wiring away from the back of the cones. I know what I'm saying here.

And you only need to pull the top driver to access them both, wire-wise.

To keep it from hitting it? Or is there some sort of "electrical shock" issue you experienced?

Well, that didn't help.:bawl:

The top driver still pops.... gotta be a bad driver. I restored everything to original set up for a return.

Interestingly, Acoustic now has some rubber covers to the spade connectors to try and prevent them from vibrating loose.

I'm gonna have to call MF tomorrow and see what they'll do.... not sure, since I don't want to pay (and don't think I SHOULD pay) return shipping.

Tired and frustrated... going to bed.

My cousin has one of these. The speakers were blown so he replaced them.
You cannot turn it up past 2 or 3 without being in serious danger of losing your hearing.

Called MF first thing this a.m.... I tell ya, the folks at the Salt Lake City phone center (I always seem to get them) are super to work with.

I explained my experience (first, damaged; second, popping driver) and he immediately said that it was obviously defective and they would swap it out. Nice!

He put a replacement one on hold under my account and emailed me a UPS prepaid label (yea! I don't have to pay return shipping). Quick, easy, and painless.

I already had it all boxed up, so took it to my office for the UPS man to pick up--literally (I helped :)).

When mine arrives, they'll release the replacement to UPS to delivery to me... hopefully they'll be a little gentler this time, with no defective driver.

I'll let the thread know when it arrives, and also post some pics!

FYI: Since a lot of our vintage Acoustic amps have the 5 band equalizers, some of you might be interested to know that I found replacment slide pots avaliable at All Electronics | Electronic and Electro-Mechanical Parts and Supplies at Discount Prices , part # SLP-50KS These 50K ohm pots are a direct replacement. Mine were sloppy, noisey, and the knob blades had been bent numerous times. These are only a buck a piece and are easy to replace. The original knobs will fit a little loose but the replacment knobs from the guy in Sweden that sells on Ebay fit perfectly.

I'm pretty sure that's an Acoustic 125, which is a guitar amp. I used to have one. It's a great-sounding and very loud guitar amp, if you're not married to a certain type of tube distortion. The 10-inch speaker and horn shoved into the 12-inch mounting hole are kind of cringe-inducing, but put a decent speaker in there and you've got a good piece of gear, although it's not designed for bass.

However, IIRC the amp section is pretty similar to the amp in the 126 bass amp, so you could use it to drive a bass cabinet and it would probably sound pretty good.

I have an acoustic 1x15 combo and its got a 100w head, I like it alot but it doesn't quite deliver the volume I want (without sacrificing tone) in a band setting. I wanted to ask you guys if any of you had experience with the new acoustic 8x10 cabs, or with the 600w head that they make. Remember, I'm speaking of the new non-vintage amps. Thanks!

im sure theres some nit-picker out there in BASSland who'll disagree, but that dent in the the cone wont affect the sound or tone from the speaker (in measurable terms, anyway).
