The Acoustic Club

I just might buy one of those! Looks useful to me

Well, I finally broke out the Wi-Fi inspection camera and poked it into the center slot across the middle of my 406 narrow. I managed to capture this:

Speaker codes 20180911160710.jpg

Pretty darn cool, but it took a fair amount of effort to get a good shot because of the depth of the 406 center slot and the divider on the back wall. In this case it would probably been easier to just pop a speaker out. For a cabinet with big round ports like a 106 it would probably have been easier to get the camera umbilical in there at the right angle.

Also,

Thanks to everybody for your well wishes concerning the hurricane. I'm cautiously optimistic, seems like each successive NHC update is showing the predicted path inching ever so slightly away from us. Looks not so good for NC though. Looks like we'll still get a lot of rain and some wind.

Question on how the 140/150 evolved.

For bass: 150b (1), 140 (2), 120 (3)
Guitar: 150 (1), 150 (2), 12X? (3)

In other words, what was the model number of the head in the 125 combo?

AFAIK the 125's amp chassis was never packaged as a standalone head. The 230 head was basically a 125 with a more hefty power amp module (same one used in the 220 bass head).

I A/B'd the Acoustic 140 and the Trace AH250SMX last night with the reggae band through the Ampeg 410HLF. The Trace had a little more headroom, but I liked the 140 better. Keeping the volume at around 3 kept it out of overdrive land, but it was still enough to be heard, with appropriate heft and authority. The 140 seemed more substantial in the lows, had a character that was just a touch "wooly", but remained punchy and toneful. All around I preferred the Acoustic to the Trace, even though the Trace seems to provide more tools for shaping your sound, and will probably provide more volume of needed.
Still dig my Trace Elliot, but I learned something last night, not only about this lower-powered Acoustic, but my own ears as well...

Awesome man. I really wonder how the 106 will sound with its reconed speakers. If the 15s are higher sensitivity than the 10s of the HLF, then clean headroom shouldnt be an issue.

I'm curious about that also. The guy's finished the speakers, but he's out for 2 weeks (he races bicycles professionally). So I'll know in 2 weeks!
