I probably wouldn’t do this, but I’ve thought about mounting one of these behind the grill on my 301. On the slanted wood baffle.
Just a thought. They still cost a lot for what they are.

Check out the Greenboy Headcase, a mids-box for similar purpose. Not shrill or sizzly, just upper range of your signal. You build it yourself, with the crossover/freq range you more or less customize.

I have found that the standard 15” speakers are capable of a lot more high end clarity by adding a modern digital eq capable pedal called Xtomp set to a 6 band bass eq patch and and connected like the typical effects circuit out/in jacks on the back of the head.

I was amazed at the difference it made.
I was able to add more hi-mid and treble then the amp was designed for and those 15’s produced the desired highs!

I highly recommend you try this before modding the cab unless you had high frequency drivers laying around already.
The speakers are capable of much more high-end then you’d think.

Remember Greg Lake’s trebly tones w/ELP? I watched him get that pick-click treble with a Hiwatt stack (all 12s no tweeters).
I got my 320/402 to produce sounds way beyond what it would do alone with this eq technique.
