No gig tonight so I've been conducting a fun experiment. I plugged the "booster out" on my 150b into the channel A power amp in on my 320. Then, I plugged my Viva Analog-designed 360+ preamp clone into the channel B power amp in and ran it into my 301 with a Cerwin Vega 187 in it. It's one of the later 301 cabs with the speaker access in the front. I toggled between the two preamps with an active Radial splitter. I can get them to sound pretty close to identical. Much closer than I was expecting. The 150b sounds the slightest bit sloppier or grittier, but I think that may be because it's full of parts that are roughly 50 years old and who knows what it's service history is. I know the 150b pre isn't exactly a 360, but it's from the same era so it's the closest thing I have access to. It's probably full of the same parts you'd find in a 360.

Anyway, gotta say I'm impressed how accurately the 360 clone does the 1st generation Acoustic preamp sound. As much as I love this pedal and always use it when I play gigs, I was skeptical about how much it sounds like the real thing. Still, I look forward to the day I get my hands on a real 360.

Full disclosure, that power-curve on the volume control is very hot on the front of its travel. Not much changes after 12:00-1:00. The speaker's are super-sensitive by today's standards and don't need high wattage to perform well. That was changed in the industry later just to impress potential buyers with larger numbers.

I'm not complaining, just loving the killer sound, getting the power cord updated soon. The original is a bit too shady for continued use

Past 12:00-1:00 is where the FUZZ lives.

I never get to turn up that loud. Someone should bottle it and sell it in pedal form.

If I would ask permission for every ACC piece is buy... ;-) Luckily, we keep our finances separate, and have a common family account. I only tap from my personal for ACC. Indeed, the knobs are good. Reminds me my 270 still needs two knobs and sliders.

I put knobs from a dead Peavey Bass head on my 270 and most who notice think they look like Acoustic 150/360 knobs. Might be the same generic item.

Had a Speakon>1/4" phone plug cable made to adapt the head to the Kustom Groove 310C combo's enclosure, and this is stupendous. Yep, it's the dreaded "T Stack", but it's the best amp sound ever. 2 ohm cab, opens the 370s tone right up.
The pile has come to something. I don't even mind the funny looking, garage-scrounge look. Sounds like everything good going on all at once, to me, right now.
