Greetings all ...

Well I just picked up an Acoustic B200H that I am currently using plugged into my Peavey Tour 210 cab. Ive been thinking about parting with my Ashdown combo unit and using the money to pick up a matching Peavey Tour 115 cab.

The B200H is 200 watts into 4 ohms, but both the tour 210 and tour 115 are 8 ohms cabs.

Am I going to be looking into trouble with this setup?

Not at all. With the B200H head, connecting two 8 ohm cabs will give you a total load of 4 ohms, so you'll get the full 200W from the head with that setup.

I tried to call my Long & McQuade about the Acoustics, but they also didn't have them.
If you don't mind not being able to try them out, you can still order them from Musician's Friend or GC.

Thanks but I have one coming in about 2 weeks. A friend (an American now living in Canada) is down in her hometown of San Diego and is grabbing one from the local GC there. Soooo...I'll be getting it "untried" but I think I'll like it...full report once it gets here.

Not at all. With the B200H head, connecting two 8 ohm cabs will give you a total load of 4 ohms, so you'll get the full 200W from the head with that setup.

Except you will then have an underpowered speaker setup. They can handle 800 watts. Better off getting the new 600 watt head for an extra $250 instead of the 200 watt head.

Well, he already has the B200H head, and 'underpowering' the speaker cabs isn't a danger.

Not to mention that I was able to get the B200H for $150 new in box from.

Got the head for $150, and the tour 210 for $100 (the peavey back over the memorial day sale).

Can't wait to get my Acoustic stuff. I haven't been able to find anything bad about it so thanks to this thread and other I should be getting the B200H with the 410 in a couple months.

I used to have a 150/6x10" setup but it's long gone.
That was way before I even thought of picking up the bass guitar and only now do I know what great amps they are....I just missed a smokin' deal on a 271 head on CL this week, so I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for another on the cheap.

Interestingly, somewhere I have a 'bootleg' of Jason Becker and Marty Friedman jamming on my Harmony Stratotone thru' that old Acoustic 150 steup, at my house in NOLA...but I haven't been able to find that tape for a while.
This was during the Cacophony era.

I never it said it was a danger. It's just a waste of speakers with a low power head. I suggest a 4 ohm 4x10 or a 4 ohm 2x10 that can handle the 200 watts.

My boss gave me Friday off after all so I got to visit GC yesterday. I knew I would like the b200 combo, I wasn't aware that I would have nightmares because I wasn't able to walk out of the store with one.
The EQ was AMAZING. The tone was AWESOME. If I hadn't just got a new fretless (last week), I would have a new amp right now. But, looks like I'll have to wait a while. As I said, my bithday is in Feb. so I've got that going for me.

I just got the Acoustic B200H to replace the old Ibanez combo in the sanctuary at my church. I ran it through a JBL monitor just to test it out the other day. Sounds pretty cool so far! Once the Avatar comes in, I'll be able to get it set up on stage and eq'd, but I like what I'm hearing thus far!

Does this get me in? The amp on the left is not mine, but the 220 and 406 are mine (1987); may they rest in peace Lost both in a fire back in 1998. It took ten years, but since June 2008, I'm am the proud owner of a B200H, B410, B115 stack.

The fretlass IS Christmas for me this year which is cool cause I have a fretless now, but not cool cause I have to wait for the amp. I'm still finding myself torn over the b200 combo or the b200h with the 115 cab.

The combo has a 4-ohm speaker, so it operates at the full 200 watts; the B115 is 8-ohms, and will only get about 135 watts of power out of the B200H -- BUT if you're patient (and have enough room) you can expand it with another 8-ohm cab (another B115 or B410 for example) and get full power and probably more volume.
Me, I like the combo 'cause it sounds just great, and I live in 2 rooms!

For me I'm glad I went and traded my B200 combo back in and got the B600H. It really is a great head and works great with my Avatar's. I still have my B200H for rehearsals and I'm starting a new rack projoect for the B600H.

Ha, I went to the lumber store today and picked out the plywood and had them cut if for me. I'm going to make an 8 space rack wide enough for the 600H and then add rack rails on top for all my IEM stuff which includes a pull out drwaeer for my 6 channel mixer plus power conditioner and my sansamp phew and wireless.

Will post a sep. article later.

Oh I got home and the idiot had cut them all an 1" to short. Grrr..

I know that in my head, the combo is the right way for me to go. I really have no need for a two cabinet stack in my local scene (clubs are all pretty small rooms). But, for some reason, I just feel the need to "graduate" to a stack. I'm being an idiot, I know, and I'm sure that I'll get the combo in the end. I just tend to get swept up in all the GAS.
