The All New Julie Slick thread

I was at the Bass Specialties concert last night and I just have to say a big thank you to both Julie and Steve; fantastic playing by both in thier solo

Thanks, Dennis!

Not sure about the A/V recording for the whole set, Lobby. But I do know that Steve and I recorded audio for the first song...

Adrian Belew has a new post on his blog site with more info and thoughts about the upcoming super-tour with ABPT and Stick Men. It's too long to re-post in its entirety here, but it starts thusly:

to clear up some of the questions you've been asking
I scheduled an interview with myself
for 9:30 this morning and that's now!
so here I go:

Read the rest here: elephant blog: more about the tour and more...

Thanks Dennis!

It was an awful lot of fun, and I'm sure Julie and I will be playing together again in the not too distant future. Plans are afoot.

After our duo fun 'n' games in the shop, I got to see her play in a duo with drummer Carl Bahner. It's not exaggeration that it was the most exciting bass-led gig I've seen in years. Ridiculous skillz, amazing compositions, massive improv ability.

Many many years of great music are ahead of Julie, and many years are already behind her - more than pretty much any other 25 year old I can name :)

Aw, shucks - you are too kind! It was so much fun playing with you (and I'm embarrassed to say) that I forgot to hit record after the first jam... I need to get into the habit of doing that. :hmm: Oh well, we'll just have to do another show together. And you'll have to remind me to hit the rec button (D'OH). I will dropbox you the first jam, though...

I want to know why the Levins live in my region and yet I don't see a show anywhere near here. Would love to come out.

Maybe Tony knows who you are and doesn't want you to come? :hmm:

Seriously, take a road trip. Go down to the City and make a day out of it; do some other fun stuff while you're there and stay overnight. These shows look to be well worth travelling for!
