The All New Julie Slick thread

In the video of the (amazing!) session with Tim Motzer (see post #100 above), an announcement crawls across the bottom of the screen indicating that the session will be "available for download" on some date in September. (The 10th? Now I can't remember.) Anyway, I wonder if that means the entire video or an audio-only version. I'm guessing probably the latter but hoping for the former: I would sure like to have a DVD of it that I could watch on my TV (with audio running through my stereo system). Anybody know? Julie?

Julie can put me down for a copy, as well, if it becomes available.

Wow, it's getting difficult to keep up with this gal. Here's yet another project: a soon-to-be-released album from Julie and drummer Carl Bahner.

You can hear one complete tune from the disk, just posted by Carl Bahner, here:

Other sample clips and ordering info at julieslick.com....

Edit: I can't believe Julie beat me to it by 15 minutes! Her post wasn't here when I started typing mine....

I'll be catching the Belew Power Trio / Stickmen show in Chicago at the Old Town School of Folk Music (beautiful, little bitty theater - maybe 300 seats - awesome venue). I was at the Perfect Pair camp last month and got to see the rehearsals as well as the first show. If they are coming to a venue near you, you REALLY need to go.

A shot from the rehearsal (you can tell it's a rehearsal because Julie is wearing shoes!):

That's cool that you got to go to the camp. I was at the same place a few weeks earlier for Medeski Martin and Wood's camp. Awesome place!

I'm really pumped about the upcoming tour -- have tix for two shows, the first of which is just a week and a day away. Woo-hoo!

And thanks for the pic. Any chance you have some audio?

There was a lot of recording going on, but the guys wanted it to be for personal use, and not public consumption (pretty understandable, since they were rehearsing some extremely difficult stuff). One of the "campers" is a videographer, and at some point, he's going to compile a DVD from the ton of footage he took. There are some snippets from the actual concert they did at the Bearsville Theater at the end of the week up on YouTube though.

Sure, I completely understand. MMW didn't make the same request -- but they were not rehearsing.

I have seen four youtube vids from Bearsville, but I keep hoping that something higher-quality would come along. I guess I'll just have to be patient: It's only a week before I get to see them myself. Patience just happens to not be one of my strong suits....

Finally, the "Two of a Perfect Trio" tour starts tonight in Atlanta. If anyone catches tonight's show, please post a review and let us know how it was.

Have a great tour, Julie! Look forward to seeing you Friday in Phoenixville!
