The BOOOOSH

I like the low-end/sub-octave wolf whistle to puncuate a well-placed bit of suggestive humor or nice-looking woman workin it on the dance floor. :)

Yep, I do this in one-way fashion, while raising the neck; BOIOIOINGGG!!! It works in the quiet final verse of the Pina Colada Song, where guitard/lead vox deliberately delays singing "face," as in, "I knew the curve of her...face." Works every time, although I now use a "comedian's whistle" (wheeeee), when I remember to bring it along.

Just remember kids, too much BOOSHin' and you be DOOSHin'.

BOOOOSH count from last night's acoustic duo gig:

Spooky - 3 (one per refrain, descending only: "I'll propose- BOOOSH -on Halloween")
The Day The Bass Players Took Over the World - 1 (up and down to start the number, while guitard took very quick pee run)

Can't think of any more, at the moment...

Singer and drummer could never figure out when the middle section of Le Freak was done and it went back into the verse. BOOOOSH was their cue. FWIW it's also in the original and we played to backing tracks and the arrangement never changed. Guess counting measures was too difficult. :eyebrow:

The BOOOSH came in very handy last Saturday night:) Our singer blew out his voice last weekend, and his brother filled in for a good portion of this gig. Unfortunately, he did several songs we don't really know, and we do several he only partially knows, but whatchagonnadoo? Back in my guitard days, the equivalent of the BOOOSH was a big whammy wank mated with the optional Hendrix/Nugent "shove 'er into the cab and let 'er howl" move:)

Oh. I thought this was a thread for discussion about "The Mighty Boosh"

Never mind.

I usually plan the BOOOOSH (just recorded a track with one on the intro), but have been known to use the WOOOM WOOOM quite a bit during the situations described in the OP. Once in a while I'll combine the two and do a WOOOM WOOOM BOOOOOSH thing...once I got a whistle from the audience for that.

b5...the diablo en musica...ummm...

Like the last two notes of the "Black Sabbath" riff, but played all at once! :hyper::hyper::hyper:

Indeedy! Need a cool little fill for a bit of dead space at the end of a bar? take those two notes (the tritone--or flatted fifth) with the lower of the two positioned at the minor 10th (minor third, but an octave up, right?) and slide both of those puppies up a fret, so the lower one is now on the major tenth...

I think it needs a name, though....hmmmmm....."the Grease?"

I spent years in counseling to get over my addiction to using the 'Booosh' in every single song at the end of every single chorus. After many hours of therapy, I can now use the Booosh sparingly.

I feel this thread requires an advisory:

Children... BOOOOSH and WOOOM-WOOOM must be carefully practiced and supervised by an adult before attempting on your own. The results of an incorrectly applied method could be very dangerous.

An ancient proverb, forseeing the future of the bass instrument, has been translated to read, "For each use of BOOOOSH or WOOOM-WOOOM, one loses a tiny piece of their soul."

Another urban legend suggests that if you close your eyes and BOOOOSH ten times, the image of the Mothman will appear.
