The Chuck Rainey thread

Woody and Dutch (on the slow train to Peking) on Rickie Lee Jones' Pirate album is an encyclopedic display of bass styles up to that time (1980). Groove playing, Ray Brown style walking, Rainey style walking while slap/popping octaves, call and answer with Jones and lots of improv on a track that just jumps. Still a favorite of mine after all these years.
And Aretha's Rock Steady, of course.
