Does this refer to the code in the FL's name, which no one has ever figured out?
Code? Yikes, you're all on to me. Dang it! I thought I had this whole subliminal backward masking-thing all worked out. Leave it to the thinkologist to figure out there's been a wolf in sheep's clothing all these many years, running an important club to boot. Oh, his Excellency is going to be mad at me now. I'll be banned to some Hip Hop forum now where I'll have to pretend I actually like it.
Actually, my question there was meant to be rhetorical. If someone says it's a steam-powered flux capacitor and it brought them here from 1855 who can prove them wrong?
To be honest, I feel strongly both ways!
On the one hand I do favor an inclusive policy, and want to vote YES for acceptance of new members. This can be seen in The Rumble and Bassman Clubs, where anyone shows a pic of a Rumble or a Bassman and -BAM!- I give 'em a number (whether they want it, or not).
On the other hand, I believe in observing boundaries, and want to vote NO for rejecting a guitar combo amp from an obviously Bass Combo amp Club (textual legalities notwithstanding). I see it as a matter of integrity, if such an "obscenity" is allowed in this debate.
So, I need to vote twice, like La Contessa has been allowed to do! But, when I asked her for one of her votes she said NO and hauled out my excessively outstanding popcorn tab from the all-night silent movie theatre! (sigh) Therefore, I vote NO, both out of spite and in solidarity with @WestyBassBob!
That's fine, thanks for your contribution to our important vote. The fact you see it both ways says something about how hairsplitting topics is similar to spitting against the wind; you're bound to get some in your hair.

It's getting late and I popped in to wrap up our vote before I head to bed. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm trying to figure out what G'dog has against the club, or me, or the concept of bass amplification. I really don't get it 'Dog. Was there something one of us (or me) did to upset you this weekend? I thought this forum was a place to have fun talking about equipment, not drive one aspect of our discussions to the point where it's no fun to chat about it anymore.
How much time do you have to go digging up Noiseninja's post which, BTW, was rejected? And more importantly, why? Is there a point beyond what we all discussed earlier today you're still wanting to harp on? It's obvious those who voted yes far surpassed the two who voted no, let's take it on a case-by-case basis but know the majority is fine with guitar combo amps being used for bass. Also, have you noticed johnny Whatshizname has never shown up to answer my question about swapping guitar speakers for bass speakers, so he's not getting a number...and that's why, unlike the other clubs you're in, I don't pass out numbers like they're candy (which is your right to do). He at least has to request one and let us know if he's used his Ampeg as a bass amp before. Otherwise, kaput!
I don't feel like arguing any longer about it and I hope you feel the same way. What we accomplished here today, besides reading some interesting takes on guitar amps as bass amps, was pretty much nothing more than a lot of soap opera drama and I get enough of that at work. So if ya don't want to end up as Linin did with me, I suggest we cool our heels and move on to happier times.
Either that or step up and run this club the way you want and I'll get out of your hair. End of topic.

Congrats to you, instrumentalist! We had lovely gifts ready to shower you with, but M's dog ate the tin of stale biscuits and swink drank the herbs. Oh well, here's to ya!

WBB, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic here or not, but it has been a long day at the clubhouse. IMO, I would think there are many who play both acoustic or electric guitar and bass, but just don't mention it when on a particular site. Am I wrong?
For those curious out there, and I have no idea why you would be, I started out playing guitar as a way to keep a bad marriage from driving me insane and it worked. The guitar that is, the marriage went bye-bye. I became a decent rhythm player, though Malcolm Young would never have to look over his shoulder. My oldest became the bass player in the family and when he dropped out of our community band to work full-time before heading to college, I picked up the bass to replace him. I found it to be great fun and I felt I made more of an impact on the music we were doing. That was around 2011-12.
When I set up a Gmail account, it was iagtrplyr. I added iabssplyr a year or two later to keep the two instruments' info organized. In fact, I tried using my bass player name here at TB but it was already taken, though I've never seen the person. With that, I used 'guitar player' as my login and have ever since. That's the story and I'm sticking to it. Remember, I began as a drummer and it's probably still my favorite, but those days are long gone and I enjoy stringed instruments (both of them) very much.
I'm adding a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Tele (yes, I continue feeding higher-priced dollar bills to the Mothership) to the stable this coming week as I've found that I want to add guitar parts to the music we're recording and Soul Reflection might try some cross country recording swaps, and it's just not as much fun with two basses. So lock me up, I love music and the instruments it takes to make it. I can only hope TB doesn't tattoo a "G" on my forehead for it, but unless you've tried it, you have no idea how exhilarating it is to hit an E minor chord through a Tubescreamer through a Marshall. I rest my case.
Not so hasty, Fearless Leader! Methinks I see a clean compromise of the current controversy without creating recall of a previous guitar combo rejection.
The current guitar combo presenter also has presented an Ampeg B-15, which is The Only non-single-chassis amp to be granted special unique historical exception for Combo Club purposes! Even the failed recall of that original ruling upheld this exception!
The owner of the guitar combo can, of course, be inducted into the Combo Club for his special Ampeg B-15, as others have been. And we no longer need to debate the bass-ness of guitar combos.
I call upon all Comboites to rally round this solutiin to our civil discourse.

We await Johnny Troublemaker to respond, but at this point, if he doesn't I'll probably sleep easier.
(sidebar: I thought we rejected the B-15 being looked at as a combo. If I had any hair I'd be pulling it out about right now.

Good night, all. I'm am thoroughly burned out and that's before the ten-year-olds attack at 7:50 tomorrow morning. The voting has ended and the winner is anyone who has a combo amp of some sort and is trying to coax mad tones out of it with their bass. I'd take Carol Kaye's Twin Reverb in half a heartbeat, call it a bass amp, and play behind the Partridge Family any old day.
The holidays will be upon us very soon and I call out for peace, fellowship, and less drama over the upcoming weeks. Trust me, we'll all be richer for it. I love the Combo Club!

I tried the amp for bass out of curiosity, as it is too loud and clean by itself for electric guitar without some effects in front of it and no master volume. I was pleasantly surprised at the bass tone it has, reminds me of how the old bandmaster and bassman heads sounded that we used in the sixties.
I got it for free and the speakers were kicked in so I put some Eminence Legends in it. Someone had spilled ice cream into it. Futara fixed it and I made a new grill cloth and frame saving the A badge.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use it against a couple of 25 watt 1/12 guitar amps and a reasonable drummer such as at the small church we attended recently.
Really don’t have to give me a number if you don’t want to. The B15 club is a much friendlier place anyway.
