The Combo Club

Tell us about that bass in the picture, please :thumbsup:.
Right on, thanks for asking...

It's a Warmoth roasted swamp ash body with a Warmoth maple and ebony neck..32". It's got Bartolini pickups now and what I think are nickel strings. It weighs about 7.5 lbs and is a joy to play for 4 hour gigs... I am a 32" convert.
Here is a clearer picture.

Looks great and I believe it would sound great. A 32" scale is halfway between my P and the 30"ers I have now. It's got me thinking !

You supported accepting a guitar combo because it remained a guitar combo?!? Hmmm, ... sorry, but I don't follow that thinkology, swinky.

Truly a dizzying intellect! But, I don't agree. :meh:

However, I do agree on the utility of that li'l Pignose amp! I have one from the '70s that I keep hoping to get fixed someday. Do the modern ones work on 6-8 AA batteries, too? :woot:

Well, I seem to be the only one willing to draw the line at combo amps intended (designed, manufactured, marketed & sold) to be used for bass guitars. Seems to me that anything else just gets off into the weeds of interpretation and/or conditional situations. :rollno:
.
I'm in agreement with you, but got here too late for my vote to be counted. Ah well, real life has got in the way of virtual life in the last week.

No use sucking up now, Roddy. :( I'm SO not in the running to succeed our glorious Fearless Leader. So, I cannot help you. And, after this ignominious electoral defeat, I'm a polytechical pariah here in Combo Club. Also, with FL's severe tongue lashing, I am liable to be excised from The Command Central CABINET of DIGNITARIES as Sargeant-At-Arms. Or [gasp!] worse! I could be turned over to my own evil henchmen, who I commanded with an iron fist, in Fearless Leader's Secret Polizei (shhh, don't tell nobodies).

Hoo, boy. :crying:

 anymore like this will just be ignored :).

I tried the [guitar] amp for bass out of curiosity, as it is too loud and clean by itself for electric guitar without some effects in front of it and no master volume. I was pleasantly surprised at the bass tone it has, reminds me of how the old bandmaster and bassman heads sounded that we used in the sixties. ... ...

The sixties!? Aha! A man of maturity, ... after my own heart and age!

... ... I got it for free and the speakers were kicked in so I put some Eminence Legends in it. Someone had spilled ice cream into it. ... ...

Ice cream in an amp? I thought damp starch, AKA "ooblek" was the amp topping of choice! :roflmao:

... ... Futara fixed it and I made a new grill cloth and frame saving the A badge.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use it against a couple of 25 watt 1/12 guitar amps and a reasonable drummer such as at the small church we attended recently.
Really don’t have to give me a number if you don’t want to. The B15 club is a much friendlier place anyway.
Sorry for troubling you all.
Respectfully Yours, JF.

That's just it, Johnny, we really do want to give you a number and see more of your Ampegs and other gear! The only hinderance is that Fearless Leader needs your consent to join. He won't "inflict" a number on you without it. Give us a chance, huh? We can be friendly. ;)

"Into the Valley of Death Rode the Rumble 500" and "Ben Hur's Combo Shootout" are the featured films tonight, 11 November, at the all-nite Combo Club silent movie theater and laundromat.

Say "poppy" for a free buttered popcorn.

OooOoo! "Poppy! Poppy! With extra butty, please!"

Ooo! And add a corndog and a Coke to make it a Combo for a reduced price!

Wow!!!! Lots of fireworks here since I’ve checked in….

Not much to report- VERY busy at our clinic, and weekend clinics down at the school gym for flu/booster COVID shots, and now- pediatric (5-11 year old) doses as well.

The last couple of weeks have seen me working out the Vox 10W Pathfinder combo with the Bullet Telecaster.

I look forward to @iagtrplyr report on the upcoming CV 50s Tele!! :bassist:

Using Mooer “Green Mile” overdrive, Danectro “Tuna Melt” tremolo and Mooer “Shimverb” set to spring reverb. Sort of a nice Enio Morricone/surf vibe going.

Did I mention the adorable Union Jack grille cloth and the British Racing Green tolex??

Playing the Tele for a bit, cuz I have a LOT of “upgrades” on deck for it. Sounds great stock, but I have a set of AlNiCo III pickups destined for it along with other stuff as well. Sort of a test bed and project to improve my soldering/luthier skills. Which are minimal! :woot:

Glad the same horses are being flogged- we must strive for more civility:smug:. Are we less welcoming than the B-15 club??? Im sure we come off as more judgey…judging from this months posts so far.

Ahh well- I’m sure I’ll warm up the Ampeg or Rumble combo sometime soon. In a few weeks or a month my Squier VI FSR from Chicago Music Exchange should be arriving :bassist:. Glad I jumped on it early- it’s sold out now.:)
