The Combo Club

LOVE my Bassman 150 combo. Such a rich, powerful sound. Used it for a startup band playing small gigs, then had to move up to the Bassman 250 for bigger gigs. Together, my Bassman 250 + 150 stack could handle anything I needed. But they are heavy! And I was getting old.

I ordered a brand new Rumble 500 combo in 2014 just to find out which of the high-power, low-weight specs were wrong. But, to my surprise, it lived up to all its advertising perfectly!

It's a great world of bass combos these days! Who Can Say NO to Combos?

Funny, I thought the Cabal Room was closed for summer renovation. Like I always say, Miss a little, Miss a lot!

The Official Cabal Room is now Wherever A Quorum Chooses To Meet. They found a dozen Marshall 8x12 open back cabs in storage, bolted the nearby dozen Marshall Majors to them to make them combos, built a mini-Stonehenge, and called a meeting to order. Felix Pappalardi's spirit played bass through the dimed rig to cover up their discussion. Nobody else could get within 100 feet of them to hear anything.

Now that's a combo rig for the great outdoors! Forget stadiums, that would fill a big hunk of the Grand Canyon. Not really, but play along, ok?

Well the Bam200 amp arrived today... I promptly put it on top of the Elf 1x10 cab and tried it.
~~WoW~~!! ~Beautiful, clear, transparent, bell-like tones! I can't figure why the heck I ever sold it away once before! -Having this set up next to the muskiness of my Ampeg gear gives me the best of both worlds IMO...
Only this Bam200 I gotta send back! ~A #**&%$$!! part of it is defective! The speaker o/p jack is too open; it does not hold the cable plug in tight enough, and after a bit of playing and some slight moving around of the amp, the speaker cable slid out a bit! -Can't very well have that in a semi-permanent setup!!
Well anyway it's from Amazon and they're good with returns; it goes back tomorrow (Wed) and they've already promised me a new one by Friday. {I'm hoping this is just a one-of-a-kind flaw and not a run of production errors..} This Bam200 head fastened down onto an Elf 110 cab may not be a true 'combo', but IMO it's one damn fine 'combination'!

Hey, Mike, maybe you two teachers can get together and work something out?

Really, SR, did we have to go there? I had just about gotten rid of that image in my brain and now I have to start all over. I'm just glad it wasn't the 20T!

Fun fact: that chair the combo is on is still in my room and has been passed down to my replacement. If you think it looks worn then, you should see it now. That, plus enough kids' farts on it to last a methane plant for a lifetime! Oh, I already miss it.

Just remember, GP, it still doesn’t make his rig a combo. Boy, have I done a 180 or what? :sorry:
Well I was definitely considering several different interesting new combos and found (most) of the friendly folks here very helpful. ~But if in the end I don't live up to your expectations, -what makes you think I have to, or even want to?
But perhaps I will post a pic of my artificial, cobbled together, jury rigged, semi-permanent 'combination' here when I get it done... -Just for the fun of it.. (-Remember 'fun'?)
~Hopefully it won't ban me forever from enjoying this thread? :crying::bawl::( ??
