Whew, ~it's expensive! -What do you especially like about it? I've been considering getting a small combo to use both alone and with my Elf 1x10 cab. Does this 801 have an extension cab line out, and if so have you used it with another cab?
Clearly I need a better set of speakers.
My opinion is that I cannot hear bass in the YT track. Thus, I cannot tell what tone it is. I'm sure quality speakers or headphones would help.

Looking at the Trace Elliot small Elf combos I noticed something very unusual; -both their 1x8 and 1x10 combos are the same price! That's rare, and I guess it means they're both equal in quality, with each having their own special features. So now I'm wondering, if I go the Elf route which should I choose? The lighter, easier portability of the smaller one greatly appeals to me, but so does having the 10" speaker in the larger one...
Given that I already have an Elf 1x10 extension cab that would expand the combo's available volume (if I needed it) by working at 4 ohms and 200W, which one would you suggest I choose? {~I promise I will not blame you afterwards...)
Y'all hafta excuse this posting; it's mostly just written self-thinking, -a deliberation of sorts. (~Perhaps even some self-delusion?)
I'm almost certain I've decided to get the TC Bam200 head again and fasten it down atop of my neat little Elf 1x10 speaker cab to make a good sounding, very portable, 200W combo. (Actually probably about 130W, but if I should later daisy chain this cab to another 1x10 it would be 200W...)
Why? ~Well, having the Bam200 once before I remember it as being pretty transparent, a kind of PJB competitor. ~One often read that dbl bass players preferred the mini Bam as it didn't color their sound the way the mini Elf head did. ~So there's that...
Also it would be extremely easy to fasten it down (semi-permanently) on the Elf 1x10, -at less than 2lbs and attached with dbl-sided tape and a 1' cable it sure wouldn't slip off anywhere..
And then of course there's the cost. It's competitors, the Microbass 801, the PJB Dbl 4, and the Trace Elliot 108 and 110 combos all cost (if one includes NJ sales tax) about $650, while the Bam would only run about $180!!
But then someone here wisely mentioned that I should consider why I sold the Bam200 initially? Why buy it again if I disliked it enough to sell off? ~But truthfully, I didn't really dislike it. -I just convinced my (fickle) self I was 'tired' of the Bam's transparent sound because I needed a self-excuse to get into the Ampeg tube sound! (Which I am now also quite content with BTW.) And I've since also discovered that I don't really need the Aux in/out ports the Bam does without, because my main (and only) effects gadget, the Zoom B4, uses an amp's main input port..
So this easily looks like a win-win situation to me here... Having a transparent sounding Bam/Elf setup next to my Ampeg gear will certainly be interesting and pleasing.. The semi-permanent Bam/Elf setup is one-hand portable, ~and sheeeesh, -it will cost me an additional $470 less than it's comparable (well, almost anyway) competitors!!
Main drawback will be that I cannot get a Combo Club # with this kind of setup, but I can live okay w/o it. {~And I hope y'all will forgive me for saying so?}
Thanks Contessa.. Your input is always appreciated! ~However I've just ordered the Bam200. The Elf head would've cost me (incl taxes again) about $375, whereas the Bam went for $180. Also I've played the Bam200 thru the Elf 110 cab before and it sounded just fine to me...

And AFA transparent sound goes the Bam200 (and probably the PJB amps also) could probably never compare to the Acoustic Image amp I once had and used with a Godin A4 fretless. -Using that setup with an Aguilar 112 cab, I couldn't get any closer back then to the UB sound I was chasing using a BG. ~And knowing even less back then, I didn't particularly have any technique difficulties. (~Prolly 'cause I didn't particularly have any technique!
Your suggestion re the Dual Lock stuff was an eye opener... It will definitely work a lot better than the Velcro and dbl-sided tape lash up I was planning on using! And I also just ordered a custom 1' angled-ends speaker cable to further help secure things.
I'll post some pictures of my 'custom combo' when I've finished my {hopefully} creative improvisation on it. But in the meantime I've probably used up enough space about it on this thread....
Generally, I listen to music on the stereo, which is not connected to any streaming device, so I can't watch YT vids and play them through the good set up. I use YT for video, not audio. My ear buds can reproduce OK, but I'm not a fan of wearing them.RR, how can you be a bass connoisseur and not have the ability to playback low frequencies in the music you listening to? I’m basing this on what I just read.
On my phone, I obviously couldn’t hear any bass coming the YT video, and will try listening to it on my regular setup in the morning, but even a decent pair of powered speakers would be a huge step up without breaking the bank. You’d be shocked at what you’re missing when your buddies send you recorded music of theirs...

Get a cord and/or splitter and run the YT from your phone or laptop on your good system. I do it. Even can run my old iPod mini. 1/8” jack with Y to RCA jacks works better than the Blutooth as well. Though my newer iPhone no longer has the 1/8” jack, there is a lightning adapter available somewhere….Generally, I listen to music on the stereo, which is not connected to any streaming device, so I can't watch YT vids and play them through the good set up.
